Swiza One Mitt: Is It a 👍?
on: September 15, 2020, 05:01:21 AM
Anyone tried the Swiza one hand and formed an opinion?

It spoke to me.

It dared me to try it.

It said that I was a prejudiced, doddering, old tool-fool, if I resisted.

It said it would come and cut my mask off in front of a policeman in a crowded store, if I did not buy it.

It taunted me for doubting it would slide easily in and out of my pocket because of the soft, textured scales.

It said I was a girlie man and a hairy chested woman for not ordering on impulse.

It said Parcel Hook, you don’t need no stinking parcel hooks!!!

Help me, help me, help me, I’m getting Swiza vibes coming in at 300mghz on 5G!!!!!!!!

That looks pretty good. Swiza should have started with that blade.

Fuzz Bucket,

Since your posts have a mashup featuring Linda Carter as Wonder Woman, I have to share that I once took an unsuccessful crack at screenwriting in LA and, as often happens to wannabes, I met some interesting persons, many of whom were wonderful persons and not the stereotype of Hollywoodies. To cool your beating heart, I did not get to meet Linda Carter. I probably would have collapsed on the spot. But I did meet the man that created and produced the TV show and that had been friends with Linda Carter and so cast her in the lead part. The man’s name was Stanley Ralph Ross and he was one of the nicest persons I ever met. He even read one of my very bad scripts and let me down easy,.Stanley sort of took me under his wing for just a month or so and told me some of the brass tacks of Hollywood story telling and Hollywood. He lit up a room with his enthusiasm and his knowledge of story telling was vast. He was a true professional that could give the market whatever it wanted in a story. Persons make fun of the old TV shows, but the network executives knew exactly what they wanted from market research and they were forever getting scripts that were anything but what they wanted. Stanley said he could pretty much write any kind of script they wanted, but he was best at simple sentimentality and flights of fancy. He had written pretty much every kind of television genre script in the 1960s, many westerns, and many comedy episodes. He had worked with Allen Sherman writing comedy lyrics for jingles and niche songs. His office was off La Brea in a little house on a shopping street I now forget the name of. It had a pin ball machine and a goofy statue and old bean bag chairs and the tackiest sofa you have ever seen. It had office files of  scripts and story ideas. He was truly touched in a beautiful sort of way. He had known hard times as a child. And had become very wealthy, but still he was completely unpretentious and constantly funny. He drove a Bentley, I think, that he said he picked up literally for a song.  He said anyone with talent can make it here, but most people don’t have talent. He was very honest. He was a craftsman, not an artist. He said he knew that Linda Carter was what made Wonder Woman special. He said it was easy to write and produce the show, unlike all the others he had worked on. He said he just had to keep finding ways to get her into the suit, and then let her figure draw people in to the surprise that she had this great humanity inside that came out through her eyes in close ups. He said almost no one else could play Wonder Woman and make her iconic. He said cartoon characters were a dime a dozen, but actors that could play a cartoon character and bring it to life were among the rarest of actors. He said most actors turned the super hero into their persona and that that was what he did not want. He wanted an actress that could give the beautiful cartoon character a humanity and warmth and goodness that paradoxes the beauty and awesome curves. The show had been off the air for ten years, when I briefly met Stanley. Movies were not yet turning every cartoon character into a franchise as Soon came later. Stanley said movies were not the right form for super heroes even though he predicted they would one day dominate movies. He said super heroes were abstractions of what we wish we could be filled with our best and purest emotions. He said sitcom length was about how long the illusion could be maintained. He said persons that made fun of Linda Carter were morons and had no insight into story tellling on television, and acting on television. He said what she created was genius. And it made them both a lot of money. What a great guy he was.P.S.: He claimed to be the person that created the name Gladstone’s 4 Fish out on Highway 1. It was a long story, but he was as proud of having named a fish restaurant that became an institution as he was of his television writing. Critics thought Stanley was a schlock meister, but those really in the business of making television cherished him. Okay, I will stop reminiscing. But he was a great guy who deserves to be remembered.

Sarge,

Firstly, thank you for some very enjoyable posts  :tu:  :salute:

Secondly, I'm not sure what sort of "help" you were after ...

-  If you wanted some encouragement to buy that Swiza then you have definitely come to the right place, we have some world class enablers on here.  In fact, the general consensus is that you should buy at least 3 or maybe 4 ("one is none, two is one", plus you will need at least one back -up in case you lose one, then you also need a pristine NIB one for your collection of "shelf queens"  etc etc)

- However, if you wanted us to help you not buy any at all, then I'm sorry, that just isn't what we usually do around here (see previous point)  :pok:   :D

Like the scales... but the rest is... meh. Broke 2 Swizas
However, this was when they had just entered the market... it is possible that they have remedied the problem.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Comis,

I got distracted on a home improvement, then came back and saw some negatives about the Swiza and so got analysis paralysis about ordering. It usually resolves in a few days. :D

Re posting, I am still getting the hang off what is off limits for humor and what is not, so I slowed down, but I will keep trying.

You don't need a Swiza, just a SAK Tinker in one pocket and an Enzo (Brisa) Birk 75 D2/Scandi on the other.
