Day 58

I used the small blade to open a few packages. I also used the scissors to free a new rifle sling from it's package. The rest of the day was uneventful, splitting firewood. The swisschamp was standing by on my belt, ready for action.

Day 58 of 60:

Swiss Champ helped to doctor up some canned refried beans by opening green chiles and chopping an onion.

Day 27 of 30 (Stack Challenge)

Lots of cutting of plastic straps around shipping containers at work today, but not really time to stop for photos.

So will have to settle for a photo of the big one that the fishing gnome caught.

The universal tool!  I really think I'm going to carry this knife through the Fall and Winter and see what all I can do with the scaler.  I know there's a way to use it as a range finder...
3:20 into this video shows how to use the scaler as a range finder:

This YouTuber, Nikgyver, has a lot of creative SAK use videos, kind of like what Felix Immler has done, but less bushcraft-y.

Looks like the poor Gnome is having to work against the Champ he's caught. I hope that line has a decent breaking strain

Some post opening then made a note. Barry seems to swear by the SAK pen. I'm not so convinced. Give me a Fisher Bullet pen anyday   :pok:

Day 59 of 60 (or 61):

We've had heavy smoke in the area for the past few days. A cool front was predicted to roll in and provide a little rain today. I had hoped the front would clear the smoke out, but, NO. If anything it's a bit worse. Apparently we are no longer getting California smoke, but are now benefitting from Idaho smoke.

Last night, a bit excited, I packed a hunting bag to go out bow hunting for grouse. This morning, the pack is still sitting on the floor while the Swiss Champ and I look through the windows at hazy, unhealthy air. I am not a happy hiker.

Grouse! I wish we had some.

I used to go bow hunting rabbits when I was a kid, unfortunately that is an illegal activity here/now.
I missed quite often and spent hours searching for my arrows (costly aluminium ones).

Mine are expensive carbon fiber arrows.  :-\  I use arrows and arrow heads that are designed to be easy to find!   :tu:

Day 59 of 60 (bonus being-stuck-inside action shot):

Mail carrier brought a new sharpening stone today. Awl did the honors:

I did test it out. Seems nice. Main blade on the Swiss Champ is now very sharp (of course, it was pretty sharp before hand, so that isn't saying much.)
