Day 7

Was making breakfast this morning when a poor spider dropped into the hot bacon grease. I removed it with the pliers before adding the eggs. I didn't taste it, but it looks to be fried perfectly!

I also used the pliers to loosen the hold down clamps on RV propane cover.

Great pics so far, keep up the good work! :tu:

Day 7/60

Needed to change an inner tube on my bike. Found the irksome flint chip that had caused the mischief and then used the pliers to nip up the valve core on the new tube before insertion. This should stop my screw on pump from locking onto it and taking the core with it at removal. Scissors then helped with puncture repair patch cutting.

Thanks McS you lucky you to be taking a tour. I have a few Lezyne pumps but they're past Masters at removing valve cores from Presta valves from Conti tubes.

I've never had a Lezyne pump, but did you try the SwissChamp's pliers?
Just wondering if they would work for it

Edit: Saw Rizzie's reply below. I see how that problem could happen. What about screwing them in with some Loctite applied?

Fast Bill - I know what you mean about the screw on fitting on Lezyne track pumps removing the cores from Presta valves! However, once I’ve nipped up the valves (using a Park Tools valve tool) the problem hasn’t happened again. In my experience, the Lezyne pump fitting which screws onto the valve is the best solution for getting tubs up to pressure (for me typically 160-220 psi depending on the tub) and the later pressure relief valve which I was able to fit to my older pump made unscrewing the connector so much easier…. For my other bikes and tubeless tyres I use a JoeBlow which is spot and simple to use, it just can’t go to the pressures I use on my tubs. Here’s a pick of the pressure relief valve (in gold - they didn’t have silver ones at the time) which is well worth getting if your pump doesn’t come with it fitted as standard which the I think the newer ones do.

Thanks McStitchy and Rizio. After I experienced this out on the road a couple of times (there’s nothing like watching a speeding valve core for getting your undivided attention as it heads for the verge!) I’ve nipped them tight with small pliers and the SwissChamp pliers worked fine for this yesterday. I have also used Loctite. But this is the Go BIG challenge isn’t it  :pok:

Thanks Rizio. I don’t run on tubeless as you’ll have gathered and I have seen the relief valve though I’ve never bothered to get one for my Lezyne track pump. Typically I run about 110psi on Michelin Pro 4 Endurance folding clinchers but I have run on Vredestein all weather tyres which go up to 140psi and that’s why I got into Lezyne (plus the sleek engineering).
