Okay, I know I missed doing an update yesterday, so here is something doubly cool to make up for it- not only is it a Victorinox Salesman, but it is literally an advertising knife for Sika!

In case you don't know why a Salesman is a cool knife in its own right, here's a list of why collectors will be drooling over these pics- square shanked Phillips, 84mm model with scissors, inlaid advertisement, scissor pivot with screw, small clip point blade and a single leaf spring in the scissors!  All on one knife!

Even though it was a bright and sunny day at the beach it was still nice to have this Wenger Spotlight in my pocket!

This particular Spotlight is also equipped with scissors, but this model is also available without them if you wanted the knife a bit more streamlined.  But, what's really neat is that it predates LED incorporation into these kinds of things- yup, this is an old incandescent light, which means the battery is perpetually dead!  😀

Saw that post on Facebook recently. Just when I thought I know of all the Victorinox models you post something like this. And here is one more rare, long ago taken off of the production line knife that I NEED  :D

That is the joy of SAK collecting- there is virtually no end to it.  I will bet that even the production historians at Victorinox don't even know all of the versions, variations and models available.

That's why SAKWiki is so important- only by having hundreds of collectors paying attention to, and logging all of the various details can we ever come close to be complete.  No single entity could ever manage to put together what we have from working together.

If you are fortunate enough to be Canadian, like me, you are probably familiar with Mountain Equipment Co-Op, or MEC for short.

The Signature Lite is one of those Victorinox models that doesn't get mentioned very much, and it's worth more than being on the sidelines.

Basically the same as the iconic Classic model but it changes the toothpick and tweezers for a small LED light and pen which give it its name.  This is the earlier version of the Signature Light, easily spotted by the red LED, which was later changed to a much brighter white LED.

When it comes to functionality, the Lumberjack, also known as the Plumber and the Walker from Victorinox has even more options than it has names. 

When you consider the small form factor of the 84mm platform it's amazing to think  that it offers a wood saw, blade, can opener, bottle opener, screwdriver and wire stripper in addition to the toothpick and tweezers!  All this function in a small package means the Lumberjack is ideal for emergency kits.

One of my all time favorite Wenger models is the super easy to carry Entree, as it is compact and pocketable, but also very well equipped.

Featuring Wenger's combo tool, which combines a flathead screwdriver with can and bottle openers, this model also has a main blade and corkscrew.  And, this particular model is a version commemorating the IEEE P2P International Conference on Peer to Peer Computing in 2004- and, in computer terms, 2004 was almost pre-historical, making this a very cool vintage SAK!

Keychain knives are a great way to be prepared without having a lot of extra bulk, and this Victorinox Rally is always a great option.

Similar to the iconic Victorinox Classic, the Rally drops the scissors in favor of a combo tool which features a bottle opener, Phillips head screwdriver and a wire stripper.  And, with the screwdriver (SD) tip on the nail file, the Rally is very well equipped for just about anything you may encounter.

I have been challenged by someone who shall remain nameless to post different versions of the same model for a week- and I have chosen the Victorinox Trekker, also known as the Trailmaster!

This model is one of my favorites, and is quite popular.  As you can see, this is a two handed version, and the first of many Trekkers in my possession, but what really makes it special is the kydex sheath from On Scene Tactical!

Day two of the "variants of the same model" features this one- my OHR, or One Handed Recurve.

This may be cheating as it is a modded knife- I like recurred blades and so I ground this one into a recurve.  As you can tell, this one has been used a lot since then.  It has been one of my regular go-to blades for a lot of jobs and it wears its scratches proudly.

Perhaps the most important model in the Trekker/Trailmaster variants is actually not a Trekker/Trailmaster at all, but a Soldier.

The Victorinox One Handed Trekker/Trailmaster became the basis for the new Swiss Army Issue knife in 2008.  Not only that, this was the first knife to introduce dual density scales- the green nylon is a different material than the black edges, which have increased wear and impact resistance.

Chances are you won't ever see another one of these variants- and not just because it's camouflaged!

This version of the Trekker/Trailmaster model was a prototype/concept knife that the fine folks at Victorinox were nice enough to give me at SHOT a number of years ago, and I don't know of any others in the wild.  As I am a huge fan of the Trekker/Trailmaster platform, they thought my collection would be a great home for it!

The Electrician model from Victorinox is always a favorite- it is basically identical to the Pioneer model (itself a civilian version of the old ALOX Soldier model, issued to the Swiss Army since 1961) but with an electrician's blade in place of the can opener.

Even though tick season is running out in my area, this Lee Valley Tools version of the Swiza Tick Tool is still handy.

In addition to the knife blade, awl, bottle opener and corkscrew the Tick Tool features a wedge style tick remover and a small magnifying glass to spot the little buggers.

This is a no name screwdriver tool but it is one of my absolute favorites!  With 8 small screwdrivers that can be used independently or in the handle that carries them it's an ideal tool for replacing components on my Roombas!

And, since this is Instagram I need to fulfill my cat photo quota, even if she is a gray shedding head module!
