Hoping the ARC is soon.

I read a few people suggesting this Friday, 7/7, but others saying September or October.

I seriously hate limited runs that sell out in 5 - 10 minutes.  Personally, they generate more ill will toward a company than excitement over their products.  I am very happy I scored the latest Garage, but the anxiety over getting it and the annoyance with the process had a huge negative effect.

The only way to stop those that immediately sell in eBay for a profit is not to buy. It really grinds my gears those trying to make a quick buck like that.
:iagree: with awl of the above. Based on Rich's experience, the process of getting this latest Garage release was an exercise in undue agony. And I refuse to buy anything from a flipper smurfhole. Such greed is a real detriment to what should be an enjoyable pursuit.

Victorinox seems to get it right with their yearly limited edition Alox colors. But best I can tell, they missed the mark entirely with the 1897 Replica and the Off White monstrosity. Why that is, especially when the Garage releases and anything from GEC seem to sell out instantly, would be an interesting case study.

This Friday would be amazing... but not getting my hopes up,  would still be cool,  though.

If I were LM I’d wait until after the 30 day return period was up before releasing the Arc. 😂

Maybe because they're so different? The Alox yearly is a knife they already make with different scales, and probably has reasonably steady demand. If they make 5K and take a little longer than they want to sell out, easy to go to 4.5 next year. A one off is harder to plan for. The Off White was awlso so out there, that it's probably hard to even guesstimate what they need. I also wonder if it's a difference in goals. LM (presumably) wants Garage to sell out in 15 minutes, and accepts the issues that come with it. Vic (possibly) doesn't care if it takes them 6 months to sell through a model.

I saw LM putting out a new IG post about Garage 005 being their 40th celebration tool, and no surprise the most majority of their comments are negative and sour.

I now wonder do their management ever read IG or any social media feedbacks.

Most years they have multiple Anniversary tools :dunno:

I have no idea why they would only make one

Just doesn't make good sense to not have several different models to celebrate the 40th Anniversary

From my perspective, manufacturing, logistics, and labor still have not recovered to pre-pandemic levels.  I think it's safe to assume that the disappointing 40th Anniversary tool offering is due to Leatherman facing those problems as well.

Could they not announce the Arc as 40th to in a couple weeks time? Maybe there will be more 40th tools.

It is too bad. But, nothing I can do about it and in some ways I am glad that I did not procure one as I would not have used it anyway given it is a special edition. No sense having a tool that I can only look at for fear of messing it up or negatively impacting value.

They need to switch to lottery form if they want to keep up with this bad marketing scheme. The only way to somewhat combat bots. They despise resellers, but turn blind eyes to what scalpers do with Garages?

Lastly, they should be reminded that Garage should be less than 1,000 pieces per what stated on the page.

Making a 40th anni piece a Garage release is stupid beyond words.

- Darkside 940
- Parts 940
- Europe 900
- 40th Anniversary 1983 (white) not sure how many grey models yet

2.20 times as much quantity, limited (supposedly) sales to 1 per household/Order, yet still sold out in less than 30 minutes.  :ahhh

I'm pretty sure the first 3 were sold in the US only, so there was more competition for the last 2.

I don't like that is US only.  His trip to Europe spurred the reason he created the category.

It just explains why Leatherman's website was extra laggy and why they sold out so quickly.

I still don’t understand the Garage 4 - “Here’s a modern version of the tool I spent years and thousands of dollars developing a whole new type of product to replace after realising it wasn’t what I needed on my trip to Europe in 1975. I call it… Europe 75!”

And yes, I bought one.

Imagine if he went to say, Nebraska for his trip rather than Europe?  Come on Leatherman, I don't want to be a jerk but it was THAT trip that spur this who le category and they get left out?  Seems rude to me.   Non locking and easily available to those who are just as passionate about the tools makes sense.

I’d love to see remakes of some of the classic tools in the way the Bond is an updated PST.

A new MiniTool? Yes please!

Full production Supertool-sized tool with Mr Crunch jaws? Go on then.

Next generation Crunch with metal saw, scissors, and slightly wider jaws? Take my money!
