Day 14: Opened some parcels with mine.  Ironically, probably one of the least used tools on my Swisstools are the pliers

Same here.  I still like to have them for the just in case feel-good factor, but I almost never "need" the pliers.  Given an actual need, I prefer to track down a pair or two of Knipex Cobras or Plierswrenches which are da bomb.  But still, having a basic pair of pliers in the pocket or on the belt instills a sense of confidence.  And that's what this whole MT and SAK game is about - having a small sense of control in an otherwise dark, cold and out of control world.  It pacifies, like a baby's binky or a dog's well-used chew toy.

Bonus Pics

I made some Don Pedro (alcoholic milkshake) for desert tonight. No help from the Spirit, but he was very interested. Ingredients: Double Cream, Vanilla Ice Cream, Frangelico Liqueur and a tine sprinkle of Cinnamon on top. Lovely stuff!!!

Pete

This looks delightful... :gimme:

Nice flight jacket.  Always liked those jackets, but as a surface officer, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing one of them or brown shoes.

Love that leather Phil!!

Thanks Barry. You can't beat a bit of goat. For a jacket from the late 50"s it's excellent.

DAY 14

Those kind of toys are in fashion around here, hand knitted by a technique called Amigurumi. A friend of my wife and the girlfriend of my friend do it as a hobby so our kid has a few. But occasionally he manages to untangle a string or two, so I have to push them back in. Swisstool to the rescue.

Exactly and +1 on the Plierrench  :tu:. I keep a '35 vintage in the tool bag in my Volkswagen.

Had to adjust sprinklers today - seems like an endless task. The small driver on the SwissTool is perfect for the little adjustment screw.

Day 15/31

G'Day,

Nearly 1/2 way and it has been a good challenge so far. I really like the Spirit, more than I originally thought. I think if I bought this one before any Leathermans, I will have a much smaller Leatherman collection.

Today was a mixed Multi day. I found an old Micra in the garage that was bought, I guess, long time ago in a batch. I do it from time to time, pull them apart, clean them and put the best ones together. They become gifts for friend and kids friends. As the SAK Classic, the Micra is a good non-invasive very handy tool. This one had lots of surface rust, more marks that pitting. I used a combination of SS and brass brushes and a scouring pad. Surprisingly the scouring pad was the most effective removing the marks. Once that was done I used some metal polish to make the tools shiny and smooth. The scissors is the only part that was only lightly polished. I found that ear-buds worked very well wasting very little polish. After that was a clean and then assemble. I checked the tension and when I was happy with that, the blade got a good sharpen. It is now hear popping sharp. The scissors is OK and the rest of the tool has seen very little use. It is now ready to go back into use!!!

As for the Spirit, scissors and pliers duty and posing with the Micra.

Cheers, Pete

Thanks, I was not expecting such a good result either. My past experience with Micra rust was not so good.

It is amazing what a little tlc and elbow grease can do.

Removed a few tags with scissors

For what I’m doing I actually like the scissors on a Spirit. I would not want to trim nails with them, but having my other SAKs allows me to keep avoiding it
