Day 8

Some shrimp had to be unpacked. Of course, the sods (over)used tape that left a nasty residue on the master blade. A cleanup was in order.

Day 8 (so far...)

Here's a picture of my typical EDC with the 70s Spartan/Standard.

But today the Tourist is back up in the rotation!

So far I've used the corkscrew to clean under a fingernail and the small blade to open a small medicine packet for the dog.

Visiting with my youngest and her daughter I tried to use the screwdriver to replace batteries in a toy.  It would only teach one screw and needed  the help from my MiniChamp.

Cool slip, though! It looks like it was made from the sleeve of a baby sweatshirt?

I just used the point of the corkscrew on my Tourist to get through the tape on a box of diapers.

I find that with some packing tapes, you just need to break through the tape and it will split the rest of the way on its own as you open the box. Helps keep the dreaded tape gunk off your blades!

Yet another alternate use for the corkscrew!

That's why I always carry a Manager, irrespective of whatever else I have one me.  The whole world is held together with those mini phillips screws, and many of them require reach.

Day 15

Went to bring in the groceries and realized I didn't have a hook! Decided to try using the knife as a handle. It worked alright (more comfortable than carrying them by hand) but not as well as the hook.

Day 9.  I spent a good chunk of today running errands.

Cut the zip ties that held the header card on a new fly swatter. It is said to be "heavy duty", and accordingly was more expensive than a regular one--but was the only one I could find in the store.  The swatter bit is about a quarter-inch thick and made from a tougher black opaque plastic.  The handle is also made from a heavier gauge wire. It seems to be easier to miss with this one than the ordinary $1 swatter.

Opened a new bag of chicken nuggets.  Yeah, they're dino nuggets aimed at kids, but the bag was $2 less for the same amount of Tyson nuggets I prefer.  They're not that bad (and nothing can be worse than the Food Lion own-brand stuff, which always cooks up as mush), but it's a pain in the rear getting dino shapes symmetric on the plate I microwave them on.

DAY 08

As the Ice Cube would say today was a good day.

Spartan helped. Toothpick for some gunk. Bottle lifter several times for a well earned refreshment at the end of a long week. And that small blade opened a package that was supposed to arrive before this Challenge started but didnt. So I scrambled for another and ended up with the serrated version. Well, today the way too small package arrived. Three weeks late. But it be snappy.

So a good day and another addition to the fold.

It is sir!  It's a 2012 model with the 2.5 liter engine and a 5 speed manual.  It's my second Beetle and my third VW.  My first car was a '66, and my second VW was a '71 Westfalia camper.  This is my first VW that actually has working heat . Unfortunately the air conditioning compressor just died

Thanks Farmer, no it's a soft T-shirt I made a few slips from. My sewing leaves a lot to be desired but they do protect the scales from scratches
