Day 19 and a rather unpleasant chore, but one which the MC orange peeler came in handy for, clearing a blockage of gunk from a small basin plughole  ::)

One of my favorite uses for any of my Victorinox knives has to be cutting a cigar in half.   Perfect day to be out on the porch, enjoying a smoke, mid 60's and partly cloudy.

excellent use PitCarver  :salute:

MCNTR DAY 19

surprisingly no uses today- it was rather cold and rainy here- can you spot the wet pup in this picture?

Bella likes to bury herself in the blankets when it's cold out. Especially if it's raining and she happens to get caught in between raindrops!

Day 19
MiniChamp vs Holly.  Tiny blade nipping small overhanging branches.  Photo was posed with one hand.  It takes two to do it right.  I usually do it with a SAK saw blade.
Turkey is thawing slowly in the defridgerator.  Too much meat for me.  I expect the fur covered varmints that cruise around looking for a meal at night will share quite a bit of it.  I raised a good crop of raccoons this year.  The skunk yield per acre was quite good as well.  All of them are free-range, 100% natural.  Non GMO and no additives.  Best wishes.  G

Bella is a real cuddle pal.  You know, I think Explorer is right.  That IS a turtle crossing.  Well.... it might be a tortoise crossing if you get all nomenclature and genome centric about it.  My favorite part is the black sign that shows you which way to go home.  Can't get lost there.  Best wishes.  G

Day 19 of 30:
Used the main blade to cut the seal out of a jug of -20° windshield washer fluid. It's getting to be that time of year to switch over from summer temp fluid.

turtle crossing  :ahhh

Gopher tortoise.  :D  That's also the trail name, as there are several burrows along the way.

Day 19

Still fixing the Halloween inflatables so they can by ready for next year but my MC needed to get cracking on the Christmas decorating duties so it made short work of this zip tie on a green extension cord.

On a side note, Gary, your posts always make me smile and remind me not to take life to seriously.  Gotta stop and admire the trash pandas every now and then.  :D

So now you did it with the MiniChamp? Well done, sir :hatsoff: I admit the idea of doing larger cutting tasks with the MiniChamp is not too appealing to me.

Day 20
Not quite the end of the challenge, but you can see it from here.  I did nip a few Holly branches back out of the roadway.  Not too strenuous.  It is just about as much as the mighty mini could do.
Package vs Mini.  I did a rather ragged job of opening a package.  More bad technique than anything else.  One hand scooting the blade along while trying to take a phone photo.  It worked.
I wonder what was in the tough plastic wrapper?
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
Well, I do declare.  It was a pocket knife thing.  The blade sharpening marks were a little off.  Not really sharp.  Usable as is.  I will just leave it alone.  Right?
I'm not sure what the blade material is.  I do know when I took a few strokes on a medium grit Arkansas stone it left a lot of steel.  The stone looked like I had used a silver colored Crayola to coat the surface.  Never happened to me with anything I can remember before.  After a half dozen strokes, the Ark really needed cleaning.  I just kept on to see what would happen.
Maybe two dozen strokes later, I checked the edge.  Quite sharp.  Would easily shave.  I stopped and cleaned the coated surface of the stone with a paper towel and WD40.  The towel was black.  How will the edge last?  Can't tell.  Paper envelope was sliced cleanly.  Hmmm?  Best wishes.  G

Day 20 and still going strong........today's first chore was to use the scoop to remove old wax from a candle holder before fixing a new pillar candle.......very satisfying and relaxing scooping the hardened wax off......after which relaxation, time for a conference call and a good old dose of stress

I got a chuckle out of FB's MiniWheat cereal photo.  My late Dad never would allow Shredded Wheat Cereal in the house.  That was the non-sugar coated full size cereal.
To those old enough to remember, Shredded Wheat used to come in a peculiar flat box.  Didn't look like a cereal box.  The cereal 'biscuits' were big and looked like a roll of steel wool.  Organic Brillo in a box.  Put one in a bowl.  Milk.  Sugar.  Chop it up with a spoon.  Anyway it didn't look like a cereal box.
Dad grew up in the 1930s.  He got a little tired of Grandma's jelly biscuits wrapped in newspaper which was his school lunch.  Somehow he got hold of a nickel.  As he walked to school across town, he stopped in at a little grocery.  No biscuits today.  Cookies.
So Dad wound up with a box of.... you guessed it.... Nabisco Shredded Wheat.  At lunch time he was disappointed.  No cookies.  No jelly biscuits either, since he had thrown them in the creek already.
My late Mom told me that story when I was a wee one.  It's strange how a man could hold a grudge against a cereal for so long.  Best wishes.  G

DAY 20  I wanted to use the orange peeler as an opener, so I tried it on a bag of Labrador chow.  The results were disappointing.  I did stab it through the heavy bag, but finding the sweet spot on the blade proved difficult.  I switched to the emergency blade because Pete the Dog said this was a food emergency.  That blade finished the job, but it was far more work than a larger blade.  Pete gave it a "Declaw Down" rating.  He says dog food is serious business and requires a serious blade.

I enjoyed your story about shredded wheat.  I do remember those, we would crunch them up in our hands.
My dad grew up in the 1930s as well.  May he rest in peace.
Glad I could bring up an old memory for you.  :hatsoff:

Day 20
Ice maker got jammed full of ice stuck everywhere, MiniChamp tried to break through the frozen tundra, but ultimately it took a hair dryer to melt it.
