Hi gra-farmer,
I read your post about the Bushcraft UK site.  That looks like an interesting group.  We had a just joined Brit in our Mini Champ challenge.  He was a real outdoor type and a great addition to the endeavor.  Best wishes.  Gary (IMR)
 :D

Thank you Gary, I am quite an outdoors person myself, I was practicing Bushcraft before it was named. As such the practical application of getting the job done with what is to hand ....does it push tools to there limits.... sometimes....  :dunno:

I have three currently SAKs awaiting repair!!! And have had leatherman wave pliers shatter on me while in use (wife saids I have a bear grip)  :D

that looks to be a Wenger Crusader- it would Not qualify because it is 65mm and it's also missing the scissors.

https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Crusader

It's got to be in the 58 mm range and have the same tools as the classic or classic SD toolset.

58mm knives that qualify for this challenge are the Classic, Classic SD, Classic SD Alox, SwissLite, Signature, Signature lite, Companion Alox, Tomo, DeLuxe, Ensign, Bijou, Broker, RocKnives (58mm) and the Duchess

That was a good photo of the Wenger, Gra.  Lots of members here are into Wenger SAKs.  I will miss carrying a Leatherman and my everyday Victorinox Trooper for a month, but will try to carry on with a Classic and maybe a Bijou.  I'm starting to get enthusiastic about this challenge.  Best wishes.  Gary

DAY 1

Happy New Year everyone, so going to try the whole challenge with the same SAK classic.... unless is pushed to hard.  I will not hold back, as I will use it the same way I use all my edged tools, so interested to see what happens?

First task, New years day meal prep...Celeriac remoulade, this was hard work, next was carrot and Swede mash which requires the use of the scissors for leverage...but the classic is the little knife that could...

Gra

Next up goose fat allouette potatoes and parsnips.

What I have noticed is that after I have finished all the prep stuff, the classic is crazy blunt (well blunt as far as I am concerned) so this will be sharpened at least twice a day at this rate.

The wife thought I was mad for using the classic to do all this...but it held up well, just had to change the approach to doing things.....just wait until I carve the venison with the classic at lunch time

I was just about to nod off when I saw something flash by the train window.  It was Sherry.  She was in a full sprint and just made it to the passenger car before they shut the door.  I never saw a gal run that fast with a bag in one hand and a little fuzzy dog under her arm.
Rumor has it that Gra has gotten a job in the kitchen here.  Galley, kitchen?  I forget.  I saw him cutting up veggies for lunch.  Now, what do I want for breakfast?  Fresh veggies?  Hmmmm.  Yes, ham and eggs.  And orange juice.  That's almost a vegetable, right there.
I see the gang is all here in the coach as I look around.  Some of them look a little bleary eyed.  What time is it?  Uh, oh.  Forgot my watch.  I thought that was my watch on the little leash, but it's my Classic.  That's okay I can ask somebody for the time.

Happy New Year!  :hatsoff:

I'm going to try and use the same Classic for this entire challenge- so my main contender will be this Classic SD Alox.

so far i've used the main blade to slice open a box of delicious ginger tea
