Day 17 - catch up

Two of my watches in my rotation. Always need to have a watch on me when I leave the house.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

(Image removed from quote.)

I just got up and read that wrong.. I read it as you always had to have two watches on them when leaving the house 😂 and was going to ask why but I read it again and now I'm with you!

Day 19 - not a French knive but one that I won here at MTO the blade had an engraving that says "MTO MAY GAW" but it was hard to catch on picture. I don't use it very often, mostly on Christmas and birthdays but I really like it and should use it more

Day 19

Another Opinel photo.  This one is lying in the dirt.  Actually on a critter trail down a bank.  The fuzzies come down off the hill and shinny down the banks into my driveway.  From there they go to the little branch or across the road.  Or both.
The little branch is fed by a spring that comes out of the ground above my house.  The branch goes into the Cullasaja River behind my mailbox.  The Cullasaja River joins the Little Tennessee River about a mile and a half or so toward town.  Somewhere the Little Tennessee dumps water into the Tennessee, and on into the Mississippi.  About 15 miles south of my house, everything flows the other direction.  All that water winds up in the Atlantic instead of the Gulf of Whatever.  Since a portion of my own water winds up in that Gulf, I think I will officially rename it again.  The Gulf of IMR has a nice sound......
Best wishes,
G

Nice MTO Alox

Pretty shure 'French' wasn't an intended theme, but half a page of Opinels and a couple army knives just gave me an idea for something other than my Trekker in a pile of cardboard.... again.

Plus a bad joke about a theme

But, mabey its not such a bad idea to dig through my collection and see how many days I can get with different countries of origin.

I'm a big fan of E Readers too BP, for the reasons you listed.  It's sure nice to be able to adjust the font too!

Day 19: Sounds like a good idea for a post.  I'm not going to scare you all with my literary abilities, or lack thereof

When I was at my granddaughters birthday party, a couple months ago, her half brother showed me a knife that he was finally able to carry.  He just turned 15 and had a small SOG fixed blade in his pocket.
Well, how did I feel showing him mine.

Pulled it out again for todays show and tell

Day 19

I needed to lift something that weighs about 400 lbs. So I opened a new hank of battle cord (extra large version of paracord, 2650 lbs test) using the Imperial soddy. Also used the soddy to cut a short piece to anchor the pulley, and my Bic lighter to seal the cut ends.

Make up quote (I'm doing terrible with these this month):

Nature is cruel, but we still stomp out there for fun.

Day 18

How do we feel about ereaders awl? I find a read a lot more when I use mine. It's convenient not to need a light, to be able to have 3 or 4 books with me at a time, to not have to go to pick up the book at the store/library, etc.

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

And, for today's quote, how about some alliteration: "Among them were some of the grandest gobblers I had ever seen, and one magnificent fellow came straight toward me."

I'm sure I've told this story before, but I once woke up in my tent to find a whole flock of turkeys wandering across my camp site. One of the coolest wild animal encounters I've ever had. Just gobblin' along from one bit of woods to another.

Love ereaders. I have the original Kindle, which still requires a light but is very lightweight and a charge lasts about a month. Also have a Kindle Fire; that one has a backlight and can surf the internet, but it is bulkier/heavier/more fragile and needs a daily charge. I bought it used at Unclaimed Baggage; think I gave $10 for it.

Your story of the turkeys reminds me of a time when I was tent camping in Brewster County, Texas and a bunch of javelina came nosing around my campsite at about 1 AM.

Monday Mini Challenge!

This is a reminder that you have two days to prepare for the next mini challenge!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to show off your automatic knives and tell us a bit about them.

If automatics are forbidden in your AO, or if you simply don't have any, you are welcome to participate with your closest facsimile thereof: assisted opening, flippers, Butterfly knives, or whatever.

See you Monday!

Day 19
This strike plate had loosened up and was stopping the door from latching properly. Not good on an exterior comercial door.
I've damaged enough multi tool phillips by over torque to now carry an extended impact bit, which works nicely with both the LM bit adapter or in this case the 4in Crescent wrench on my EDC

@kottskrapa - I could see doing one on each wrist if I had to keep track of two different time zones at once.  :D

Day 19

Part of my daily carry is unique to me in that I carry mustache wax and a mustache comb for my handlebar mustache.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

I had to look up Javelina. Cute little pigs. I definitely prefer the e-ink readers to the tablet ones.

How do you like the little SOG? I've had one on my maybe list for a while.

Day 20

Been a while since I did a nice group shot.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Sometimes, it's nice to just come home:

Quote
I came at length to a stream that I knew must be the south branch of the Muskegon. The main river could scarcely be more than ten miles to the westward, and might be easily reached in one day.

It was time. The meal and pork were nearly gone, sugar and tea were at low ebb, and I was tired of venison; tired anyhow; ready for human speech and human companionship.

Day 20 - melting away! Today I decided to take this off my belt. Made it some years ago because I don't like to keep keys in my pocket. Back then I had my house key and car key dangling. In the new house I have a digital lock and the car only have a fob so there is no real need for it except for my barracuda -65  but I can live with those keys in the pocket
