Welcome to MTO 000,

You can find some info on the different Spirit stamps here

This was the fist topic I found when I searched the forum for Spirit stamps, there will probably be other topics about this  ;).

Thanks! I tried searching, but I didn't find any topics about this matter. I hope someone has some knowledge about this.

Hello!!

Another spirit of France !! A kind of gentleman compared to the leatherman! Both styles are nice!!

I have the black version, and a version of the older spirit that I found better machined, indeed on the new version the clamp does not open by itself unfolded, it makes force a little, there is friction, and some asperities in the steel end of the clamp ...

Cheers!!

Hi everyone!

I'm new here. I just got my Spirit X and I like it very much. I used Leatherman Wave for years, but now I got my first Victorinox. I'm pleased with the quality of the Victorinox after the Wave.  8)

So, I have a question for you guys: Why does some Spirits have different stamp on the handles? In store they had three different stamps on Spirit X. Neither one had stamp on the plier heads. Does this have anything to do with the manufacturing date?

Would be interesting if this were a detail that we could use to date the newer versions!  :tu:

It does look like the same stamp with different strike forces, so maybe just a mfg. variance?  ???

The Spirit is a great tool in any variation.  :tu:

I think the newer one will loosen up with time, the oldest one I have (2004) started out with the pliers tight also, but became very smooth with use.

Very nice photo!

The Spirit is a remarkable tool.  Although I ended up with the Spirit X because I wanted a traditional main blade, I wondered how the blade shown in your photo would be like.

Spreads butter really well. And then cuts you because you've insinuated that it's a butter blade

Or a clip, that would get me in a buying mood.

The SwissTool is 20 this year, I was hoping for a factory clip for it's anniversary, but they decided on black instead, no celebration.

Thanx NCJ

Two years ago, I also want the Spirit X before I bought the XC, because the plain edge is easier to sharpen.

But the X version was very hard to get here. I have no choice but the XC one and after a few days I fell in love with this butter blade, it cuts through anything very well.
