Hi Everyone, sorry for the delay.
This is the 2014 challenge "TOOL" design poll, that will run until Sunday, the 18th of May. Below are all the designs submitted in this category (unless I've missed someone, please let me know if I have), in the order of sign-up.
You are voting to choose which Design will, potentially, get manufactured as the official forum Challenge Tool this year.
You can vote for one, some or all the design entries, but only one vote per design please.
Don't forget to also check out the Coin design poll here:
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,52001.0.html, which ends this Sunday (the 11th)
1. Ducttapetech's Entry. My design is a Spark Plug Gapper and a .25 inch bit driver.
Along the edges or the most common spark gaps in meteric and imperial. In the center in the 1/4 inch bit driver. On the very top is a hole for a key ring. This will allow the use of the tool without having to take it off the keyring.

Microbe's Entry.Metal coin with the following uses: double bottle opener (you can never have enough bottle openers), hex implement on the O or if the tool is sized up, in the leg of the T, belt/strap attachment option, keyhanger option (via a clip in the O), MTO branding option (heating the tool and then use to burn MTO mark in stuff ex: leather wallet). The MTO lettering is vertically mirrored and is readable from both sides of the tool. Spinning the tool coin on it's vertical axis would show the MTO lettering from all sides.

Plures in unam - Many in one (in piglatin)
Semper paratus - Always prepared
Sexy Old English Text font
Face 2:
Multitool logo (YEEY!)
Leatherman graph edited off the web
SAK graph shamelessly stolen from web - decent designer can redo
2014 in sexy Rosewood font, fitting our logo
Tool details (7 in total):
Saw blade - definately not going to work as a proper saw, more of a serrated rescue blade (or for cutting your fingers and pants zipper)
Slingshot - shamelessly stolen the idea from Cogito, but hey 2 tiny holes and got a new function
Blade - just a sharpened edge on one side... had a similar pencil sharpener years ago and it worked great
Wrenches (3) - sizes were originally accurate, but when resizing to 47 mm they might have skewed. A skilled designer can maybe shove more in
Guard - having two sharp things dangling close to your private parts is not smart so I thought of a sliding guard (made of metal or plastic), it will slide on the raised edge circle. When rotated up it will serve as guard for blade and saw as well as a keyring
Handle - not sure how feasible it will be. It is designed to fold up and be part of the coin (keeping the coin shape and size). It would give extra leverage on the slingshot/wrenchy bit and even for the blades (incoming mini battleaxe image
)

The slot measures 20 x 12 x 2 mm (plus whatever your experience tells you in order to have it fit in). The USB-Stick intended to fit in the slot is from Verbatim.
Features- 4mm hex hole
- Grooves on the side to improve Grip.
- No sharp edges, so it feels comfortable in pockets.
Inscription / Decoration:MTO 2014, some lines to emphasis the plierhead-shape.
Preferably the material would be metal, as it represents MT.O best.

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,51249.0.html5. Raukodur's Entry (although it was entered into the coin poll, I feel that the design's thin walls are better suited for laser cutting, rather than being stamped out, like the coins would be).
Dimensions:
The coin is 32mm in diameter, much smaller than the coin behind it which is 43mm in diameter. The coin is 2mm thick and the three rims of the cut-outs are 1.5mm deep, allowing for better installation and removal of small split rings.
Lettering:
"Be prepared" (ΕΣΟ ΕΤΟΙΜΟ) - ancient Greek proverb.
On the other side we could have: MTo 2014
Design purpose:
A keyring attachment challenge 'coin', which you can put on your keyring, and use as an attachment point for other keyring attachments. In this way it is functional in a way that doesn't overlap with the other tools we use and so provides real usefulness as well as being a challenge coin for MTo. And of course, there is the aesthetic appeal of the trisymmetrical circular design.

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,51809.0.htmlPlease feel free to post which design you voted for and elaborate on what aspect of the design drew you to it, or any thangs that would have made other designs more attractive to you. This won't affect this year's design, but may help define future iterations in following competitions.
