the "lack of interest" only exists because a lot people don't know they exist...

If we give every manufacturer their own forum then there will be nothing to talk about in the General forum.

And, if as you say, Bear is only discussed in "underrated" threads, then perhaps there's a common denominator there that you should consider.  New forums here are usually based on a certain amount of research and consideration, and based on what I have seen so far, I see no real reason to add a Bear Forum.  And, if no one knows Bear exists, then it's up to Bear to change that.  This forum can't be responsible for creating a market where there isn't one.

As for the main site, it would be nice to have a few more Bear Reviews to add before we give them a subsection of their own.  Any volunteers?

Why wouldn't they?  They are Bear.

Plus, we already have some ToolZall tools listed- but as a huge Bear enthusiast, you probably already know that:

Crescent ToolZall Electrician Pro

Give me enough to justify it and I'll be happy to...

I thought you specialized in them?

The bottom line is guys, I don't see enough interest in them to warrant it.  If you believe there is, prove me wrong, but remember, this is a community site, and I have a bazillion projects on the go already.  If you want to see something happen, make it happen, and don't expect me to do all the work for you.

Put something together, contact me privately and we will work out the details and see if we can make it work for everyone.

Otherwise, while we are wishing for things that someone else will do for us, I could use a much larger budget to run this site so I am not working two jobs to keep it going.

Remember, the phrase "I must do something" will accomplish a lot more than the phrase "Something must be done."

I'm for a Bear section. A lot of people come to prowl this forum to get info on different multitools out there and having a forum spot of their own will help some folks make their decisions. I got my first Bear tool recently and found it to be a great strong mt on par with some big names out there. My purchase and discovery of Bear tools wouldn't happen if not for our forum with it's vast amount of knowledge and great people to share it with.

I have nothing against Bear tools- I have several myself, and I have always been impressed with them.  They are good quality, reasonably priced, hard working tools that have many factors going for them, such as outside opening tools, bulletproof construction and interchangeable/replaceable implements. I just don't see enough interest in them to justify their own section, and opening a forum without the interest means we have another low producing forum here- and IMHO, we already have our quota for that.

Do a search and see how often Bear is mentioned here- My guess is a good percentage of the results will be this thread, which just proves my point...  the info is here, and available, and that's more than can be said for any other site, but realistically, it just doesn't have the draw or the numbers to support it.

I doubt Gerber or SOG, or their fans would appreciate that much, plus it would make any info about them even harder to find.  Wouldn't it be easier to discuss them here in the General Forum, which is the place where Newbies tend to congregate?  One would think they would get more exposure here than anywhere else.

What if we put it in the Gerber or SOG section?

Wouldn't it fit better in the Swiss section than those as the Super Bear Jaws were the forerunner to the Swisstool  and Vic owned Bear and Sons Cutlery for a while as well ;)

I believe I said something about a sub forum before :)

I would love to see a forum for them as well as anyone but as has been said I don't know if the interest would be there :-\ but I have been know to be wrong many times before ::) :D

Frankly there's only so much ANY website, forum,or word of mouth can do to raise the profile of a manufacturer. The company itself has to meet it's product's devotees at least halfway and do some self promotion.

Bear tools aren't very popular around here...why make a sub forum for them? To make everyone happy, why not have a sticky "Bear Tools" thread in the General Discussion forum?

Well if you make a section/thread about it what do you name it? They are made under so many labels, I bet most people use them don't know them as bear, and people searching for info on one they want to buy won't be searching for bear tool either.

Very good point. All the ones I've had were Toolzall and I've seen ones labeled Craftsman.

I bought a Bear Jaws because i ran across some info here a couple of years ago.  I remember asking about adding a Gerber forum back in Jan 2007 so maybe a Bear forum may come about one day. http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,643.msg7536.html#msg7536

If not that's cool too.

Yeah I hadn't even thought about that  :-\ That would need to be put in in the very first post of a Bear Thread of all the different labels that we know they have been under :)
