Well opinions vary and I respect the fact that people here are being civil.

however....the real question is (and this is the real divider)....what is better????

Sure, the Internet is certainly a place where you could pretend to be something else, but I really don't see the point..
To come clean after all this time, surely must have taken a lot of guts, but I really do understand the reactions from the people,
who in one way or another, has been involved with you...
Maybe this is the place "New Member Forum", where we could learn to know the real Leatherman123..?

Well, Leatherman123 (Leatherchild123?) let me explain something to you. Confessing is nothing without a willingness to accept your lumps. Your age and immaturity actually explains a few things about you to me.

But the bottom line here is this. If you want to be treated like an adult, conduct yourself as an adult. Take the criticism that you brought upon yourself and that you deserve. If you want to be treated like a man, take it like a man. Take it without making excuses and without whining. If you cannot do this then do not expect respect, sympathy or forgiveness.

Remember, respect is earned not given ..... you have not earned the respect you so desperately seek and the forgiveness you think you are "owed" and truth be told you really do not deserve any sympathy. In fact you have taken a few steps backwards in all regards.

As others have said, LM123, if you are really sorry about something, you are also willing to humbly face the consequences and make amends.

In other words, ask others what you can do to make it right, and then do what they ask without making excuses.

I suggest you start by straightening out things with everyone you have traded with, as a few appear to be unhappy with you.

People will often, though not always, forgive you in time, but only after you have proven yourself.

I have had to do the exact same thing many times in my own life.

Personally, I don't care one way or the other. I always assume everyone is lying anyways...  ;)

Hey guys, though it doesn't excuse things, I think we should remember that LM123 is only 17. We can't expect him to see the world like many of the rest of us for the simple fact he isn't as old as us.

Remember how you saw the world at that age? I am sure there were a few ultra-mature kids among us, but I suspect a lot of us did stuff much worse than LM123, who seems to really just be a good kid who did something silly on an internet forum. Heck, I wish that was the worst all 17 year old boys were up to these days.

I don't know about everyone else, but it took me many years before I learned that my crap does stink after all, and that I don't know jack about anything. He'll start to find that out soon enough (No offense, LM123. It happens to everyone eventually.).  ;)

So yeah, rag on him a bit, guide him in the right direction, but in the back of your head, keep in mind that you are actually talking to a 17 year old boy.

A 17 year old boy who for some reason has more disposable income than 99% of us here, but a 17 year old nonetheless...  :D

Wow, thanks for such a meaningful post! I made a mistake here, I admit it. But, I am going to rise to the occasion and regain trust. It won't be an easy task, but I am going to certainly try my best. I don't do drugs or drink alcohol, as I care about my future as a LEO more than anything. I messed up here and I don't deserve instant respect, it's something you work for. I am honestly a good kid, I just messed up here. I am a honors student, I play sports, I'm a martial artist... I couldn't log on for another day without spilling my guts. I wanted to post a confession for the longest time, but I could never do it. It's a long road back, but I am sure I can make it.  :)

That's right, he's 17.  The age where they think they are rebels by getting piercings, tattoos, and acting up.  The age where you can't tell a kid what to do, because he knows it all.  The age where kids think they can do anything, and often try.  The age where image is everything, and being cool is more important then doing what's right.
Sounds like the perfect age for some tough love.

Blimey!!! I've been on holiday for a week and missed all the fireworks :ahhh As many of you know , I am a fairly new member/poster to these forums, but even I have recognised the importance of trust between you guys, in your words and your deeds. I have already done several deals with some of you, trust played a big part in that, from both sides. LM123, you lied to these people, they are, not surprisingly, upset. Some forgive quicker than others, some not at all, how speedy is your forgivness to being lied to? Man up and take your punishment, time is a great healer. I havent had any dealings with you, so I have less to forgive, but you did right in coming clean, better than being forced out :pok: BTW........expect more, cos its comin :twak: Rob
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
