  • Plants should be smoked, not eaten.
Usually just a MT, either pliers based or a SAK.

  • The man with the plan and the really nice tan.
I go through phases, but lately just my Wave, clipped all the way to the left of my left front pocket so it won't open.  I hate the feel of anything in my pockets, so it's more comfortable then carrying one of my slippies.  Plus, it does anything a knife can, plus a whole lot more, you know?  Right now, I am not seeing any benefit in my carrying a knife with my multitool.

  • Why haven't you got a Farmer yet!
At work it's a Multi and a slippie, but everywhere else it's usually just a sak :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Whatever happened to your minimalist philosophy?

Thought you were going to carry just a simple slipjoint like a Case Sodbuster Jr. which you said could handle just about all your needs, including survival.  Then you were experimenting with carrying just a Vic keychain SAK.

Carrying a LM Wave isn't very minimalist.  ;>

I don't have an Atwood...though would like to get a Prybaby or Atwrench when one is available in BST.

So it is a MT and knife for me :)

Better steel, OH opening, better ergo's, better suited blade size for task, different grind options, different edge options, different tip options...

I never use a knife on a MT, so that's why I have a knifeless Fuse.
I'm back!!

I got it  ;)
As for me I have gotten used to using the blades on my MTs, I usually EDC the Charge, SURGE or the Skeletool so no problems with OH opening :D

I can see why some wouldn't with a Charge or a skeletool for example, but I much prefer carrying a dedicated OH blade as it probably sees 90% of the work that I use my EDC stuff for.
I'm back!!

We've had a record breaking year (literally) in Western Canada this summer.  The heat has seen us wearing shorts for most of it.
I've stuck strictly with knives and lite one's at that.  But today is raining and quite a bit cooler.  September is here and the leaves are starting to turn and fall.
It's just about time to dig out the multi box.  I think I will start when the new XE6 arrives from Dennis.  :)

I carry a MT/SAK and Atwood (so I picked MT,Knife and Atwood).

The Atwood is my go to for quickndirty (opening boxes etc) but if something needs careful disassembly, I go to the MT/SAK (Cybertimer for the time being).

I usually just carry a one hand opening knife (today was a Buck Sirus) and a Atwood or two (today was the G3 Prybaby and a Nibble), sometimes I replace the knife with a tool or carry a knife and a tool but not always since I often have one nearby.

Knife and tool; Spyderco Waved Delica and SOG Powerlock.

I'm kind of pissed I got that Spyderco as my first "real" knife...I love the wave feature and not many knives have it :P  I'm still on the lookout for the right Waved Emerson at the right price...

Does the waved Delica not work all that well?

It works great, I love it...that's why I never bought another folder!  There are waved Delicas and Enduras for Spyderco, and there are a lot of emerson knives with that feature, but they are pretty expensive.

why carry a knife when most multis already have a good knife ???

I started carrying an MT with a knife (Swiss Tool and Rucksack) before there was an OH MT.

Then Leatherman came out with the Wave and I was interested about the idea of just carrying an MT
but realized I would still have to carry a SAK for the toothpick and tweezers (before Swiss Card).

So since then it hasn't changed.  :D

I only carry a multi on me usually... but I think that ONLY is kind of the wrong word to use, especially when it's the Surge! in question! :D

I usually just carry a knife if I'm going out for a short time.  If I'm wearing my backpack or EDC bag, I'll definitely have a MT with me.
This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David
