NEW 2010 Gerber Multi Tools
on: September 23, 2009, 07:12:14 PM
I saw this info while browsing on the net, and have not seen it posted anywhere else...so here you go  :D
I wanted to post the pics from the site but am having some problems with it.

http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php/product/id/434  "Gerber Grappler"  This one seems pretty cool!

One handed opening like Mp400-600 series, but outside opening blades,tools...looks like one handed opening blade as well...The best part is it locks like a vise grip plier. Like a Leatherman Crunch kinda. Notice there is only one button to return plier head into tool not 2

http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php/product/id/435  "Gerber Strata" Gerbers answer to the wave??

http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php/product/id/437  "Gerber Octane"

The whole 2010 Line http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php/products/new_items

Found a couple videos of the "Grappler, Octane, Crucial, and something else......
http://www.invodo.com/Gerber/c/807FK41I/Z0000OK1

Enjoy

Welcome and thanks for the info!

The Grappler looks very interesting.

At the end of the video, however, he claims it is "the first vise grip multitool"...  :o

Use a proxy to get around that :) Gerber seems to insist we only want to look at the UK version of their site ::) They do look like an interesting selection of tools though and i'll be interested to see how well executed they are :)

It is bloody annoying that isn't it :(

Anyway, UK Members, just go to:

www.bind2.com and browse the site from there without it bailing out and going to the UK site.

Are the tools removed from the Gerber site? All I can find on Google is the Grappler video: http://www.invodo.com/Gerber-Grappler-Utility-Knife/p/M2BXWPRX and the links in this thread do not work, the search function on the Gerber page does not find results.

Do not care where it is made, if that thing is as good as it looks I´ll get it. Finally a Gerber with large tools, locking pliers and sliding head. Amazing!

Gerber's 2010 lineup looks good.  The Strata looks promising.  Welcome to the forum!

WOW!

That line-up is just plain exciting. That's such a major shake-up from their previous trains of tool design. Now to see if they are actually any good....

Wow... I like the Grappler.  Does its have a real phillips driver on it?  I can't stand the "modified flat blade" phillips driver Gerber normally uses...

OK - I tried to let this pass, but I can't.

ALP, I'm not American, and I don't want to be. The USA does NOT have a monopoly on quality or value for money, and you're "anti-everyone but Americans" rhetoric is offending more and more of us.

Please cut it out, you sound like a buffoon and IMO are giving your fellow countrymen a bad name.

@ moderators - Sorry but someone needed to say something. This is not just my opinion, but that of several regular posters.

I don't think ALP is strictly US made or crap, although I'll admit he tends to sound that way sometime, but he has also pointed out in the past that it's not so much US made that interests him, as it's "quality made" in an industrialized, free nation that interests him.  In fact, he has also pointed out that (in the past at least if not presently!) he has had more interest in Swiss made items than US.

In this instance, I would guess that he is flogging the US Made label as Gerber really only makes tools in the US or in various parts of the Orient, and given the choice between those options, US is preferred.  I am sure many of us can agree with that sentiment, even though not everything made in the Orient (and China in particular) is low quality.

At least that was how I took this, and I could be wrong- ALP I'm sure will be along eventually to clarify.  ALP- sorry if I put words in your mouth or distorted your meaning!  :D

I'm not sure I understand the defence here

Are you saying that it better be made in the USA or not?

I'm pretty sure that I know exactly what ALP meant (here and in a multitude of other threads).

If I'm wrong fair enough. If I'm right, then enjoy my feelings on it.

Either way - I'll leave it there.

Cheers.
