Wow.  I never get tired of viewing your collection Chako.  I can't even say that what I have is a fraction of your collection.  I am finally starting to keep tools and buy the ones I want without selling something.  It is a long process that takes forever, but it is still fun to get deals on ebay.  Good luck finding more space my friend!

Speaking of going in the deep end...

I did a big move today. I am still not finished everything. I have been wrestling with some issues that I knew I would have to solve before too long. Today, it came to me. I was racking myself over what to move and where to make room for another storage unit. The simplest and for some unknown reason, the last I would think, was to move my first collection curio cabinet to the living room, and move the collection to my bedroom. I figured it all out, and with a bit of lateral movement of the portable AC unit, I can fit another storage unit right next to it.

What took the longest was to move the clutter from the bedroom curio cabinet into that corner cabinet in the living room where it was before I moved it into the bedroom to make room for storing multi-tools. Got to love when you move stuff back and forth. At least I waited a year or so to do it. I will admit, that looks better in the corner curio cabinet.

Once cleaned out, I was able to move the bedroom curio cabinet gently into the living room. Thankfully my master bedroom is on the main floor, so no stairs negotiating. It looks real good in the living room. At least that puts the hunting knife collection visible all day. This curio cabinet also has a hidden top where I store my watches. I haven’t gotten to this part yet, but I think overall, it will fit in the living room a lot better than in the bedroom. I had a bad habit of putting junk on top of the unit, making getting into this storage area a pain. I won’t be doing that anymore.  So moving the contents of this curio cabinet into the corner unit was the time consumer.

The part I was sure would be problematic was the easiest. The Sears storage cabinet has big wheels. I was able to wheel it down to the bedroom with no issues…without unloading both the cabinet and chest. I bought another unit that should come in on the 30th. My thought is to make one for SAKs and the other for Multi-tools. I will be sure to take photos of both together in the bedroom.

This moving took all day, and I am still not exactly finished yet.

Now onto the photos
The collection is now in the bedroom. It looks good there.

The unit is 18.4 inches deep and 27” wide. I have plenty of room to open the drawers.  The idea is to remove the handle once I get the other unit so that I can push them together to make one unit of sorts.

Here is the corner unit. Most of this stuff is my late mothers. Her egg collection, the cookie jars I would raid when I was a child, etc. I did purge, so now I have some room here.

Here is the curio cabinet now in the living room. I cleaned out the 3 drawers of sheaths and boxes. The idea is to put all that stuff into the new storage cabinet once It arrives. So now I have 3 nice felt lined drawers for special items under the glass display.

Here is the top of the curio cabinet empty of all my watches.

So now, I just have to wait for the new unit to come in, and then a lengthy shifting of items from one to the other. I think I should be good for quite some time now…effectively doubling my storage space with the new unit.

Update time.

I finally got my other storage unit in.

It came in two boxes just like the other.

Since I have a tradition, I used my daily beater to cut the straps but one.

It seemed fitting that I cut the last one to christen the even with the SUPER Super Tinker (How much fun can I have with a name…seriously?) :D

I first used a large ratchet to install the wheels, but quickly found that the micro ratchet was best suited due to limited space.

Putting on the wheels is always the longest part of assembly.

One done, I moved into the bedroom and removed the handle on the other storage unit so that I could move them closer to each other. I haven’t yet moved anything into the new cabinet and chest. But I must say, it does look impressive.

The time consuming part will be to move things from one unit to the other. I am thinking one will be devoted to MTs and the other, SAKs. This will give me plenty of future storage room. It will be nice to also store the sheaths in the same area as opposed to stashing them everywhere.

Looking good Chako. :tu:  Those micro ratchets can be incredibly useful when space is tight. :)
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Looking good  :tu:

I think an official Leatherman cabinet would be great for your more special pieces. I wonder if they have any spare for one of their top collectors
