The orange one looks pretty sweet. If he is arrested he can charge the police £1100 per hour for false arrest.......So he can't be arrested under the offensive weapons act (a hard one to prove I know) and they can't escort him to a police station to test the knife then? How comes I have heard such stories then? There must be some loaded BB members now.

I think perception is almost as important as legality, especially where sharp's are concerned If I'm cutting something at work with a sak at work, there's less likelihood of a parent putting in a complaint or calling the cop's than there would be if I was doing the self same thing with a UKPK Yes there both legal, but one's going to raise eyebrows a lot bloody higher than the other, and i really can't be doing with that sort of bother tbh

How comes I have heard such stories then? There must be some loaded BB members now. You have heard "stories". In 11 years I have yet to hear of anyone under these circumstances to get arrested. The blade is LEGAL, and as per the offensive weapons act the only thing they could possibly have on him is "Intended" to be used as a weapon. Now if any cop worth their salt were to look at our venerable, aged, old, funny looking Dave they would probably help him to cross the road rather than arrest him for intended weapon carrying.So....if he were to "intend" it to be used then theoretically Yes he could be....but realistically? No he wouldn't be.Most cops I know would ask where he got it from and how much

It's that word "theoretically" that I am on about. All I am saying is that if you are going to blow over £100 (I know Dave actually isn't) on a knife that is specifically UK legal, why not get the one that is even more copper/sheeple friendly. I am sure most police officers are great guys and would show interest, but sadly not all of them are as at the end of the day they are normal people just doing a job and that's why public perception plays it's part IMO.But, saying all that, Nick is right, Dave does look like an old git and I am sure if he kept it in his shopping trolley he'd have no grief at all.

Mike, make the most of it mate. The age jokes will soon be comming back to you.
Perhaps the question that need to be asked is"Which one is better for cleaning werthers originals from dentures?"
Quote from: Flash (some know him as WAR) on November 04, 2009, 10:02:45 PMPerhaps the question that need to be asked is"Which one is better for cleaning werthers originals from dentures?"And what, exactly, is wrong with Werther's Originals?
Deal. Although Mike and Ben might be scared to approach me for one if I'm carrying a UKPK
Quote from: DaveK on November 04, 2009, 10:08:48 PMDeal. Although Mike and Ben might be scared to approach me for one if I'm carrying a UKPK I'll be the guy hiding behind a bit bloody Kukri remember
Actually I like those. So, 3 pages full of typical Brit talk. Dave you actually any closer mate? Any preferance on blade shape as you get options with the Urban?
To be honest, I think I am closer.....I'm thinking that one gives you more blade for your money (which I didn't realise at the beginning), so the UKPK is definitely ahead at the moment.
Not as widely available though, and you get wharnie is the Urban range. Some prefer a flatter edge.Dave, bigger is not always better. Am I correct in thinking one of the best knives you own is a Minigrip? Larger knives have their place, but generally I prefer smaller ones.

It is a preference thing and as you like your grip, you may prefer the smaller Urban.
One for Benner and Mike.....hey at least its a Spyderco
You all are funny!

I've also got the Ladybugs (which are great knives) and I want an option to them, so some bulk would be OK.Quote from: Benner on November 04, 2009, 10:19:07 PMQuote from: DaveK on November 04, 2009, 10:14:59 PMTo be honest, I think I am closer.....I'm thinking that one gives you more blade for your money (which I didn't realise at the beginning), so the UKPK is definitely ahead at the moment.By that logic you should be going an ordering a Kukri (you could get 3 for the cost of the UKPK BTW ).Bigger is not always better (as I said above).
