Cheers Gray - I'm decided now I think.

I actually quite like the idea of a knife that screams "What the f*ck are you looking at? I'm legal"!

As opposed to one that whispers "Look at me, I'm a compromise, trying not to upset you"!
I used to come here a lot.

Compromise?  It's just a different knife.

After all this discussion it boils down to 2 things, blade shape and blade length.  Want the bigger knife, get the UKPK.  Want a smaller blade or a wharncliffe shape, get the Urban.  It's totally up to personal preferance.

Weeeellll. If, as suggested, I went for the smaller blade because "it's more sheeple friendly" - that would be a compromise. That's what I meant.

I want the big 'un. Close the thread - and (mostly) thanks folks :tu:

I would vote Urban - I like the Warncliffe blade option . Both are nice pieces , probably for a general rather than task related EDC ( Ie: general pourpose , the UKPK rules . It's locking brother , the Caly. III is a superb bit of kit .

Performance is really in what you find better, larger or smaller blades?

They are both great knives, but the price tag is beyond a joke.  Just to clarify, you can get 2 Delica's for the price of one of those.  And why?  Because OH legal folders are rare and so they can charge what they bloody well like.

That turns out not to be the case.  Prices for Urban and UKPK aren't out of line with typical Spyderco pricing.

Prices for other Spyderco models with G10 scales and higher end blade steels are similar to UKPK and Urban.

Compare prices on FRN and G10 Dragonflies, for example.

Personally, I'd rather have two FRN D'flies for the price of a single G10 D'fly.  But, many people prefer the more expensive and much heavier G10 model D'fly.

Eventually Spyderco will likely offer lower priced FRN versions of UKPK and Urban, at which point I'd consider buying one.

Of the two as they exist now, I'd pick the Urban.

Both are beautiful knives (beautiful for Spydercos that is), but the Urban is slightly lighter weight and is short enough to be comfortably carried loose in a pocket when desired.

So mate have you decided yet? At the price tag of the UKPK and Urban I'd personally go for a Terzuola slippit. That said, I'm still after a nicely priced Wings slippit. Have you considered that at all or are you after Spydies alone?

I'm going to go for the UKPK first  :P Let's be honest, I'll end up with both eventually won't I?

I have the locking version of the Byrd Wings, and find it to be one of the most uncomfortable knives I've tried tbh.
