New stabby thing
on: January 12, 2010, 01:30:20 AM
Thanks to Dave Bowen, I am now the proud owner of a Nemesis Knives Arch Ally knife.  I have a secret fetish for small fixed blades and so when he offered me this little blade I jumped at it.

According to Nemesis, it's got a full tang s30v blade and a unique worm hole patterned G-10 handle.

The kydex sheath isn't bad, but it shows that not everyone can work with kydex effectively.  Sure it looks good, but it's actually quite large compared to the small knife, which is probably to allow it to properly fit the Tek-Lok on the back:

While I like the Tek-Loc overall, I find on smaller knives like this one it's just an awful lot of weight for nothing.  Fortunately, as you can see, it also comes with a beaded neck chain, which would be a viable option except for one thing- the kydex doesn't hold the knife securely enough, and a sudden jolt more often than not will cause the knife to fall out, which, in my books is a major no no for a neck knife.

In short, I love the knife, but I may be looking at sending this one to Eric at www.onscenetactical.com for a new sheath/carry system- something a little smaller and more usable.

WOW!! That looks great!

I love small fixed blades too.  Especially Bark River's.

Nice score Def!

This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

I like that! very nice Boss.

now remember one of the good things about kydex is it's "workable" hair-dryer or a couple of "friends" in the sauna
and you can reshape it tighter or whatever you want! talk to Eric or I can ask Jeff at "Rainwalker" creations
to give you some tips :salute:

Very nice choice! Back in early 2008, I communicated with Jeff Hall of Nemesis Knives about getting an Arch Ally with wooden scales. Jeff was a great guy to deal with but in the end, I decided not to follow through as I had put myself on the list for a Charles May knife. I think I still should have picked up the Ally as it seemed like a nice little knife. Congrats!

With the excitement of SHOT, I forgot all about this one.  Here's a shot with a new Soldier to give everyone an idea of how tiny this thing really is.

It is a great little knife- I just wish it had a better sheath.  It's far too nice a knife to lose in the woods.

Yeah, I'll probably send the whole thing off to Eric at On/Scene Tactical eventually, but for now I think I'll just look at it, shake my head and complain!  :D
