Nice Mini layout, Vladimir.

I don't recognize the orange screwdriver (?) next to the Stanley one. Does that use different sized tips?

That is CountyComm's 1x4 Technician's Pocket Screw Driver.

It has smaller tips than Stanley.

Really? You think it's a lot? I guess it's a good job I don't actually carry it in the pocket.

^ I like the monocular idea, PN. I keep going back and forth on it for my own pack. Without a doubt it is a useful addition, but then again the same could be said for a hammer!  ;) The question is can one justify the bulk/weight of it for the utility it offers? Decisions, decisions.

P.S. I can't ID what's the center product on the left side. What's that?

Flash memory stick.

I just love these EDC organizers - both Maxpedition sizes as well as the countycomm flavor.

Im tempted by a mini version of these to put all the lose stuff from my pockets in.
Does anyone actually put these in their cargo pockets? Some seem to be stuffed so full they wont fit in :o :o

Nice, PN!!! [They call it a "fatty", I beleive, just like some call me. ;) (I wonder if they realize they've now named a product of theirs by a drug term?  :) )  ]

Is the bottle on the left a "tube vault" or, if not, what exactly? Thanks.

So, after reading through the 22 pages of this post, watching 3,642 YouTube videos on it, and going with a modular system in my new EDC bag, I've decided to join the club. I'm using the Maxpedition EDC Organizer as the place to hold the items I use most, but don't carry in my pockets or on my belt.

It's currently a work in progress, undergoing evolution as I find which items I'm reaching for the most. But instead of waiting until there is a finished setup (if there ever will be), I wanted to share pictures as I go (thanks to AHB for the idea  :tu:)

The front with a subdued black and off-white US flag:

The contents:

  • A Bic "Round Sitck" medium ball point pen. Ten for a dollar at "back to school" time. Perfect for those "Can I borrow a pen?" and you're not sure if you'll get it back times.
  • Full sized set of tweezers.
  • BrushPicks in the key chain sized container.
  • Zebra F-701 (un-modded)
  • Smith & Wesson Tactical Pen. Because what's a tactical pen case without a tactical pen? Great $20.00 pen. (Actually I was really surprised how well these are made the first time I picked one up. I kept saying to myself "Is this really made by Taylor?")
  • The CoreClip
  • Leatherman Monarch 300. Great inexpensive pocket light. Perfect for quick carry, and for "I'm not lending that guy my $50.00 flashlight..."
  • Quark AA² Tactical, R5 Edition

All I have in the back pockets right now is a Gerber Diamond Pocket Sharpener, and 2 spare AA batteries in an old Nite Ize "Spare Power" Mini Mag sleeve:

Thanks. Yea, for some reason I had it stuck in my head that "I just needed finish my load-out" before I posted here. And it wasn't until Allan mentioned me posting here, in my CoreClip post that it occurred to me that I may never finish.

Anyway, I'm hoping that I get it to a "mostly" finalized set-up. Similar to what I said, I'm trying to treat it more like an extension of my pocket carry. A place to keep stuff that I would otherwise like to keep on me, but don't want to be lugging around in my pockets all day.

It sure is fun rearranging though... :D

I've thought about keeping a cheap light to lend out, but the idea of someone using my tools, and then getting the impression that I carry cheap junk bothers me.

And besides, Monarch 300's are less than $15.00 now, which doesn't seem too high for a "lender".

My (theoretical) solution to the lend out problem.

"Hey, mzil, can I borrow that flashlight I always see you have on you?"

"No"

"Sure but if you break it or scratch it, you owe me another new one of the same. It is a prized tool of mine."

"Sorry, the battery just died."

Then, when/if they see you using it later, if on the same day:

"Well what do you know? I did have an extra spare battery in my other coat/bag/locker after all! Lucky me."

BWA-HA-HA-HA. >:D

Thanks Nuphoria, and Allan.

I realized that I made an a couple of omissions in the list of the contents. If you'll look at the little paracord loop that Maxpedition puts on right side, you'll see I keep a "size 0" Nite Ize S-Biner. It's handy when I want to add something temporally to the set-up, or if I want to unload something in my pockets for a while. It's quick and I always know right where I put it.

The other thing you'll see is that I have replaced the knots on the zipper pulls with actual cord ends. Adds a much more finished look, and gives that feeling of sturdiness when they are used. When un-knotted, and cut in half, one pull is the perfect length for two pulls with ends.

I've made two recent changes as well.

I was looking for a better way to store my batteries, AA's for the Quark, and AAA for the Monarch. The Spare Power sleeve is just too bulky the way it holds the batteries end-to-end. I could never find a place for it in the back pocket where it seemed to fit naturally. So I was trying to come up with a method of storing them side-by-side, that way they could tuck down in the bottom, in a space that was not used by the outside tools. And then it hit me, I realized that carrying any batteries in the organizer is not in keeping with my "Things I use most, but don't carry in my pockets" philosophy. So they were relegated to the Nite Ize Hip Pock-Its that resides in the first layer of my EDC bag. Makes a lot more sense (to me anyway), still easily accessible, and allows me to carry more than one spare set as well.

The second change is a exciting new addition:

It's a Moleskine Cahier Pocket Ruled Notebook. It's black (the textured surface shows up lighter photographed under my work light), has 64 lined pages, with the last 16 removable, hand stitched spine, and a pocket in the rear cover. The size is 3.5 x 5.5 x 1/8 inches (9 x 14 cm x 3mm), and just about a perfect fit in the rear pocket. The price is good too, they are only three for $7.95 retail:

 :D 8) :D
