Currently running standard leopard here so I'd also be interest to hear any snow leopard opinions too,

I'll always recommend VLC Player as a must have app but what do you want to do with it?

I'm a Mac user . I would do the upgrade without hesitation. The main thing i notice about it is an increase in speed . It also frees up some hard drive space . My best Buddy reports similar findings . It's not like Windows , where everything you do uncorks more Woop Ass !

...heard bad things about snow leopard.

What??? No way! You heard bad things about an Apple OS? Impossible!!!

 :ahhh

I remember the transition from OS 9 to OS X.. I thought OS X sucked and wanted my old Mac OS back. They had finally gotten the freeze problems sorted around OS 8 and then they stuck me with some lousy aqua colored rainbow nightmare called OS X that was more about fancy looks and whiz bangs than user focused design. These days so many people are used to it though.. so they like it.

I still think the big cat OS is over engineered and too fussy. But then who am I to make disparaging remarks about infallible Apple?

I can't complain , took about 5 mins to install - no trauma , no drama . My buddy and his wife had the same type of experience as I did . The Upgrade was aprox $40.00 Can . Well worth it for the speed advantage , I would do it again in a heartbeat .
