I have to get more of these files from somewhere!

I have to say its a lot easier to do this kind of knife (with a bevel only on one side and the 'Tanto' blade) compared with the last one I did

Its had a bit of a polish and not looking too bad

That's it more or less finished with a 'heat-shrink sleeving's' handle,
I will wait and see how the edge holds up as I have not tempered this one,
I'm hoping it will be OK

I did not bother and tried to keep the steel from getting too hot by dipping it in water a lot,
I guess I find out how well I did when I take it out to play

Aren't files supposed to be very hard/brittle and as such not directly usable as knife material?

Yes that's the right way to do it.... so I thought bugger it I will have a play with this as it is and If I have to I will temper it another day
