My first impressions on opening the package was "OMG that's big" 1" dia 5" long

that was until I remembered the trouble I have with lights like Novatacs,Ra's which I found too short for me at 3 to 4 inches,so no! IMO the size of this light is about right

There is knurling running down the middle of the battery tube but surprisingly being smooth it feels secure in the hand, straight out the box it's very easy to understand and operate the UI,I felt no need to look at the instructions at all,I would say this UI has been very carefully worked out to work with minimum instructions

There is one thing I don't like and that's the smooth reflector I would have prefered a OP reflector for this size of light, but don't let that put you off,as even with the smooth reflector it's surprisingly almost ring and artifact free.
IMO I would say the lumen's are OTF but I believe maglite were being a little conservative I'd put it closer to 100 lumen's OTF but dont quote me on that as I have not tested in a lab

but suffice to say it's very bright.
And if you like your low level like I do then it has a very nice usable low I can look down into the led in day light no problems,at night tho it may be a little to bright to do this and anyhow that practice I can't recommend best take my word for it it has a good low level.

Right enough dribble

lets move onto pictures and text review I prefer this kinda review

Comes in a camshell but I think there's a gift box version too,

Size comparison with a mag solitare'

The battery carrier is interesting it's well made unlike the normal cheap AAA carriers we often see,it has + and - markings and also a big arrow showing the direction you insert into the battery tube but better than that the carrier can't be put in the wrong way if you do the tail cap can't be screwed down

so no fears of reversed polarity here

Another shot of the carrier note: the bar running down the middle, adds more strength.
cheaper AAA carrier at the top,mag bottom.

Now I can't understand why Maglite missed adding a clip or lanyard ring hmmm! that was one downside IMO but fear not there are rings a clips that fit, here's mine with a Novatac clip and SS lanyard ring which BTW are available from lighthound.
SS lanyard ring installed and light functions perfectly

And with a clip from Novatac installed,

As per picture it looks like the ring and clip is slightly oversize in dia but in reality it's fine

looking down into the led it appears there's no way of modding this light in the future,I guess time will tell if someone attempts it.

A look at the tail cap where all the selections to modes will be made, put simply you can just ignore any modes and just click on and click off,
the light has memory so when you set the dimmer it will remember what level the next time you turn your light on just remember all modes will come on at the level you set the dimmer however I found a interesting thing,if you want to keep your light on low all the time "maybe you don't need signal, sos modes like me" you can have momentary max just rotate to nite-light press and hold there you have max output, turn it off and back on it's back to low level

the switch on the tail cap is described by me as like Novatac or Ra tail cap switches well designed micro switch..

Here I'm hoping this vid will show the dimming from max to minimum I think you would agree it goes pretty low,

UK prices hmmm! probably not unless your very well off and can afford UK prices at £60 it seems a bit steep to me,don't let that put you off tho it's worth trying to get one from the US just for the cool UI and it's not bad at all.
Thumbs up from me

To end a couple more picture, thanks for looking guys

tail standing,

lanyard attatched,

Thanks guys
