We had really nice weather today so off I went this morning with a smile on my face and a pocket full of change  :)

Sadly not a SAK or multitool in sight I did spot two 1940s BAKs but the Guy wanted 12 quid for each them and I'm too tight

Picked up a few bits inc
A great old tool box (missing the tote/tool tray)
A really tough army duffle bag (just need to find a shoulder strap)
A couple of tired old Axes, one with a split in the handle and it looks like one with a split in the pol (Axes and hammer handles are covered in frost as they have been in my freezer all day)

And the biggest pair of Footprints I have ever seen  :ahhh

Oh yes...... and today I got the horn

I've said it before, but I'll say it again; I am so envious of you car boot sales, the ones round here are rubbish by comparison.

We have really nice weather here at the moment (feels like it's the first time it's stopped raining since Xmas) so the place was packed out,

I did have to search through a lot of boxes of rust to find those bits, nearly ruined a nail  :ahhh

And I want to go shopping with Jaydar

Bob I've always called them Footprint's as you would a pair of plier's,
The red grips are a cool adjustable tool that needs a bit of TL, they are made by Rolson who tend to do cheap tools

The monster 'Footprints' are actually made by 'Brown Brothers LTD'
The Axes are both made by Brades  :) sadly the top one has a cracked poll  :(

Don't know for sure, but it sounds like an excellent reason to pick up a welding unit. :D

I won't bother welding as I have too many spare axes at the moment but I do have a cunning plan  ;)

You are indeed the Footprint king Tony! :D

Despite the devastating lack of axage, it looks like you still scored a nice array of goodies. What is the story with that little razor knife along the right side? I don't think I've ever seen that type before.

I think its an older version of this Stanley Bob, mine is a well made little thing with a locking blade, light duties only as the insides are a plastic

Picked up an old vice because I don't have enough vice's
also nice 'new' rasp and another smokers penknife (rusted shut   ::)  )

I've never seen this type of vice before, it works on a cam instead of a thread, very clever and quick to use

Theres a woodworking version here  :tu:

Hmmm, I've never seen one of those either. Are you able to get much mechanical advantage and clamp on things as tightly as with a regular vise?

I've only had a little play sofar (and I think part of the base is missing    )
I'm not sure if it gets as tight as a normal vice but the advantage is how its used

You raise the handle to '12oclock'
The jaw will slide out freely
You insert your work and slide the jaw in (still at 12 ) until you are gently clamping your work
Turn the handle to 4oclock and the jaw locks on to the work
As you move the handle to 5oclock it tightens on to the work

This can be done in 5seconds  :o

I will try to do some better pictures

I've read of "quick-action" vices before, but never seen one in action to see exactly how they work.  Nice find :)

I have no idea how old this vice is, theres no makers name (just 'No23' on the cam parts)
It's been well battered, little corners broken off, holes drilled in to it and splashes of weld and paint....but it works great!  :D

Heres a few action pictures  ;)

Well judging by those pics it looks like it functions pretty well! Too bad there are no maker's marks on it though.
