Seems you'd be right with palette knife mate, from a quick web search it appears Holmes were paint makers  :salute:

Good catch  :tu:

According to this ...

http://bjn-paint-reunion.co.uk/british%20paints.htm

... the company was taken over by Dampneys Paint Company in 1928 ... so that's a heck of an old knife you've got there Mr Sparks  :o :o :o

Thanks Al I did a search but found very little

So reading that article it was made before the 1928 takeover

It is a nice little thing, reminds me a bit of those ring knives  :)

I picked up a few bits this morning

Oddly enough there were a lot of people selling Billhooks (mostly over priced) but I found one bargain made by A&F Parks & Co Birmingham (BIPED 1561)

A nice ax made by BRADES Co, stamped 1918 I think  :)

Also a USA Framing square  :o  a 'Richards quality' penknife made in Republic Ireland by Jowika I think

Ooh and the hammer looks to be hand made  :o :o :o  very nice rustic thing that deserves a better handle  :)

 :salute:

They must have turned out a huge amount of mass produced penknives, you can see where the tools were roughly stamped out
To be honest I shouldn't have bothered with this one but as it was the only penknife I saw all day I had to buy it  :ahhh

although I did see a 'Swedish' (I guess) barrel knife but managed to resist buying it

Went with my dad to a local flea market and a couple yard sales this morning, he found a plastic square and I came back with two safety razors for a song.

It was a bit windy this morning but...

A bolster chisel (Guy at work was after one of these)
A handle for a tiny hammer
Paint scraper
Two more Stanley knives
Two older Stanley chisels
Another small kettle and a hand bag (I have a plan  ;) )

Last but not least a crate tool, only 11 inches long and Made in Germany  :D needs a little work

Good find on the crate tool Tony. :tu:  Even though I have no real use for one I have always liked the idea of them.

Oh, and nice handbag as well mate.

I only own the one handbag, its not like its the beginning of a collection or something ...

It was a Beautiful Day here on Sunday so I popped along to the Bootsale and picked up a few odds an ends  :)

Inc
A rusty Richards penknife
An older pair of 7”Footprints with very nice (not original) screw
I've been on the lookout for a spare hacksaw for the garage (I must stop lending tools to friends an colleagues  ::) ) this one made by Kennedy tools

The site went down so I went shopping  :D

Picked up a 'Wostenholm Waiter' at the boot sale today

Not sure of the age of this one
George Wostenholm, Sheffield on the tang

It is possible that I have over cleaned this one  :-[ as I cleaned the rust off the blade I polished a tiny bit of the scales so I really had to finish off the scales

Its a sharp little thing with a nice snap  :tu:
