Mail call today was great for me!

** any help dating the Pioneer would be appreciated**

so here is what arrived today, this was one lot on ebay

first is my first Grand Prix (1980-1985'ish) , this is a user, but all in all not bad.

the only real issue is the backspring for the saw is broken.  it opens with an ok amount of snap, but it closes really slowly with no snap. (closes in slow motion)
(hard to see in the picture, but the saw backspring is sunken in from the bottom at the shield end

this is also my first Red OC SAK.   (any help locking in a date would be appreciated)

the cap lifter does have a 90 degree stop, but it looks like it missed the finishing process at the factory (notice the lines on both sides, that is not from usage)

no tang stamp on the back  (read somewhere on MTO that that happened 2 years in the seventies, but it may have been 91mm SAKs only)

the red is chipping on the bottom, but otherwise the red looks good

a Huntsman II (nylon scales) was also in the lot, and it is in great shape

and a Black OH Trekker

I am very pleased with this haul,  no shelf queens, but that does not diminish my love of them at all.

Sweet score Detron :tu:  My OC red Pioneer's cap lifter has that same unpolished finish.  I think that is normal for some period of manufacturing, but I don't know the time period

I finally caved in and picked up a Swiss Champ. Also shown is my new Manly Comrade. Both of these have kicked out my prior EDC's. I don't know how I compromised for so long getting different SAK models that were slimmer. This really has everything. Surprisingly I like the fish scaler / ruler as a go to tool just to fidget with and use as a back scratcher.

Very nice scores everyone.  :tu:

I managed to get a few more Pioneers

Red Alox, Black with red shield , Gold with Giraffe etching & black with Zebra etching.
I really like the black with red shield. I am not really that keen on the etched models, but thought they would make a nice addition to the collection.

Those etched ones are interesting. I can see how they would make nice collector pieces. :tu:
