Artisan in route:

Wondered how long that would last. Nice snag. Curious if it has file on the phillips
Thank you!  I actually went over there looking for a Compact and found this and am so happy as it is a close match with my Woodsman.
Going to check for that file first thing, hope it's there.

It looked to be in great shape. I'm kind of a bottom feeder on inexpensive SAKs but that was a pretty good deal on one this collectible. I considered it! Glad you got it.

I ended up finding a really cheap Compact as part of a 2 knife lot. I'm just looking for the combo tool as a donor part so I'm not picky but what often happens is if the knife cleans up well I don't have the heart to part it out. This one not only doesn't have the file on the hook, it doesn't have the hook! Rear scale has a deep ding though.

The odd thing is that from the pictures it looks like the pen head is metal (?!) Not sure what I'm looking at with the seller's blurry photo but it doesn't look like the pen head on all my other plus scales pens.

Also grabbed an 84mm Electrician, at least I think that's what it is, one of those Radio Shack ones.

Like I said, bottom feeder! But man...I could see myself parting with some money for one of those Space Shuttle Master Caftsmans...someday

Awesome grabs Foldy B and Oxford G. Fine pieces for the collection. :tu:
Unless I am wrong, what you have there is a Golfer 91mm (no hook) instead of Compact.

Ah yes...before the hotdog fork...er...divot tool. Crap maybe I can't part this out...then again looks to be in rough shape...we'll see.  :tu:

That's how they should have marketed this knife, the Victorinox Hot Dog Tool.
Probably more hot dog consumers carry a SAK than Golf players.

I totally see this happening, with nice metal inlaid sausage on the handle.

Now that's the perfect example of decay in modern society

Latest batch consists of the following (All NiB)
3 tinkers, 2 rambers and two red alox cadets.
The red cadets are mod fodder. I want a red alox bantam and an 84mm woodsman

For an 84mm Woodsman, is that like a Bantam with saw?

That would be a lumberjack or alox walker.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a solo blade and saw.
But then why not use a small tinker backspring and add a swisschamp chisel?  :ahhh
The mind wanders...

The last week or so really has seen some unique snags, these Yeomans, Shuttle MC, Artisan, and the shadowy flight into the dangerous world of an alox Rover that does not exist.

Inspiring stuff in the sense that I can't seem to stop browsing for treasures myself...so much work NOT getting done over here...probably need to disable internet on my work computer...but...must..find...must...buy

For today my purchase is kinda boring, I got all the bits from the SwissChamp XAVT that don't come with the regular CyberTools, some LED module batteries (Swiss of course) and some boring but needed brass rod for mods.

The odd thing is that Sakwiki says the torx bit is a #6 and #8, but the seller says #6 and #7

It's Torx #6 / #8 - at least that's what I have

I was able to get three of the four XLT/XAVT bits for my CT 29, but was unable to find the Slotted 3x1 / 4x1 bit - where were you able to get this from? If the seller has more, could you give me the details? T14 may be interested too.

Glad you found it, I was uncharacteristically not staring at a computer screen for about an hour.

Yeah that shipping is bonkers for such a small item. At least they're available.

I ordered this one yesterday, and it arrived a few minutes ago: The RangerGrip 71 Gardener. Another one to strike off my wish list, which is getting shorter and shorter -- it hasn't done that in years.

Whats the deal? why is it sooooo expensive to ship items overseas? ???
My secret Santa gift cost me $28 just to ship it out of USA , last years cost me $48(diff friend/country) - both 1-3 ounces over 1 pound. CRAZY!  :o :bnghd:
1 pound in USA to USA usually runs around $4  :bnghd:

Even crazier when you compare it to the shipping prices we pay on stuff from China.  Sometimes the shipping from China is less than it would cost me to send the same item to the next town.
I get the feeling that our international shipping costs are subsidising those of the Chinese exporters.  The international postal treaty specifies that the source country keeps the revenue from international post.  So the last stage of delivery of an imported item, from the port of entry to your address, is effectively done for free by your country's postal operator, and they have to recoup the cost of that by charging you more for your exported packages.

Because I'm a true rebel I am posting something that is neither a SAK nor mine anymore, though I think you'll like it regardless. Today, to my surprise I got a Swisstool that was just mailed to me yesterday. anyway they seem to be a 1998 RS plus model with Kawasaki branding , but at that condition for 30€ I'll take any model. As for the ownership of the tool as I got it so early it's now in a package to my father for christmas, hope he'll like it.
