You're an evil, evil man for torturing me like that.  :ahhh

I think I like the SS screws more than the black ones on this combo. :tu:

Me too!  I looked at my orders list and more than half want the black/red combo, so its by far the most requested.  Keeping up with making those bloody liners by hand is the only painful part.  :D

Well I'm in hopes that someday I will be able to afford to be added to that list ;)  I think you could make a killing in the modding business my friend :tu:

I have a black/red combo (with BO tools) and I can see why it's such a popular combination. It really looks great.

I've not seen nor heard of work like his anywhere else. If he keeps this up he could make a living off of mods. I'd like to see him succeed that way.  :salute:

Im working on it! :D  Demand is not the problem, I get 5 or more requests a day, its keeping up with it that is the problem.  Working as fast as I can, still I can usually only build 1 a day.  It takes a long time to get the backsprings all nice and flush and polished, drill all the tools, make all the liners look nice etc.

Someone must have linked my work on a french mod site recently or something.  In the last 2 days Ive had 10 requests from users in France for customs, and previously I havent sold any there.

Yeah, word spreads when the product is great and worthwhile :tu:  You may not need to go back to work if this keeps up.  You may need to invest in a mini factory of your own, if you don't already sort of have one ;)  Good luck with all your orders, and may you receive many more :salute:

Im working with some local places to do another run of backsprings, and I want to see if I can pay a media finishing pro to tumble them for me to avoid the hours of manual finishing.  That would really speed things up.

Two spartans at 5 bucks each.  One has a serrated blade and is an older model with victorinox, switzerland, stainless, rostfrei on the tang.

Is nostalgia the only reason that older models with victorinox, switzerland, stainless, rostfrei on the tang seem to be more desireable among collectors and users alike?

That means more people have to join the modding hobby and try it for themselves. And then show us. :pok:

Actually the thing is that most of the SAK fans here don't visit the other sub-forums as much. Some post and view the Swiss forum exclusively and rarely visit the Mod Squad so keeping them up to date here also is very good. With a link to a build thread if needed.

I am glad Syph and others post what they have done.  it was just funny when I look at what I post here, (like being super happy with a 80s Champion I got for $10), then comparing that to hand created masterpieces like what Syph makes.

I am still very happy with what I get, and I love seeing things that are out of my price range.  it was just funny to me.

I got my 2nd swisstool in and I was a bit surprised.  I hadn't really looked at the tool closely other than to make sure there were no broken implements so when I received it I quickly realized what I had.  its a 98 left hand pivot in very good condition.  it has the victorinox stamped into the plier head.  pretty cool tool with some subtle differences in some of the implements other than the noticeably smaller plier head.  I wont detail them all just a few for simple interest sake.

the one with the lanyard is my 05 style plier, head noticeably larger
the ll bean is the 98 plier head, smaller and stamped victorinox

the 98 will be pictured on the left throughout to be consistent.

back of tool where corkscrew would go, awls are very different, crate tool is beveled different as most seem to be on this 98 vs 05, the chisel lower stripper on the 98 is more of a v rather than a u on the 05 the cutting area is deeper as well, on the cap lifter you can clearly see where the bevel starts on the 98 ( in the nail knick ) vs the 05 ( at the very tip ), on the saws the 98 leans back noticeably more than the 05  ( hard to show ), there were some other subtle differences but these stood out as I was cleaning the tool.

Why Compacts? For the pens? :D

Seriously, Compacts to me look to be be a bit overpriced for what they are - because of the Plus fittings probably. Makes me curious why would they be bought in bulk as part donors when other SAKs may be a more economical choice.

For the combo tool? Or for the nailfile hook? What else...?

Made me curious  :)
