Saved by a Leatherman  :tu:

Neat story when he tells about using a Leatherman awl that saves the helicopter and its passengers from certain doom.

After several tries, I got the leather awl started. I wiggled it in as much as I could and at the same time I heard Philip say, "We are going to live!"

Good story, nice find  :tu:

However, who keeps their 'Leatherman Tool' in the first aid box?? It should always be securely attached to your body especially when climbing out of a moving helicopter  :twak: :D

I guess it was the classic PST as they referred to it as the Leatherman Tool throughout.  :multi:

I think a Leatherman in a first aid kit is a brilliant idea.

If you read any of Clive Cussler's novels, you know that Dirk Pitt uses a SAK almost as much as MacGyver, except that Dirk never carries the SAK with him- he always finds one in an emergency kit on a boat or in a crashed plane somewhere, so it's not exactly a new concept.

And really, if you were hurt, wouldn't you rather someone used a clean Leatherman from the first aid kit to cut bandages for you, or use one covered in grease, food remnants and anything else it may have been used for that morning?  :D

Man I am surprised they were happy to get back into the chopper after the emergency & fly again. I guess it was not just any old pin holding the bolt in it was a SAFETY PIN  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :D :D :D

That is an impressive story  8) 8)
