They do look cool don't they :)

I don't smoke but I always carry a ferro rod with me, in case I want to burn stuff >:D, If I'm doing some bushcraft then I generally carry one of my trusty zippo's as a back up to all my other fire starting gear :)

I do really fancy getting an Imco one day, even though it flies in the face of my trying to be an enviromentalist ::)

I still swear by the old Zippo.  I thought I would try one of the jet flames, and I got a nice Collibri, which was fantastic for the first month or two, but ended up crapping out.  If I was a smoker, I'd have been very upset by this!

Zippos remind me of SAKs and Mag Lights- not the sexiest or most advanced things out there, but they'll keep going long after everything else has been done in by it's own bells and whistles.

That they are, but I was looking at an antique one, my great grandad nabbed one of a dead german during WW1, but it disapeared before I could lay claim to it so to speak

What I'm ultimately looking for is a trench art lighter formed out of an old cartridge.  Have wanted one of those ever since I started smoking.

I have found a couple of nice ones on ebay, but if anyone stumbles across any please keep me in mind!  :)

Have you thought about making one?

I have no idea how to go about it, but maybe someone on the net has done a tutorial?

Yeah I things like that. It's like a  :multi: and lighter in one!

It's of course in America.  Nothing cool like that over here.

There are you've just got to look harder, coz all  that sorta thing is frowned upon >:(

But the SOE used to issue our agents with all sorts of stuff like that during WW2, and some of the more inventive bods did the same in civvy street :)

It just tacks some finding ::)

I have been watching a lighter on ebay now for 8 days and it finally ends tomorrow!!

It is nothing gadgety but it is an odd piece of trench art which is something I have been interested in for a long time.  I just like it's uniqueness.

Just hope it doesn't go for too much  :-\.

I need to get me a nice old lighter too.  I don;t smoke so I don't keep my Zippo full, which means I have to fill it each and every time I use it.  That's the big drawback to me- the fluid evaporates so fast I don;t consider it reliable unless I also happen to have a bottle of fluid handy.

I did indeed.  And very cheap too!  :)

It's one of them things that you just like but you don't really know why?  It's hardly the most user friendly and it's been crudely made, but I like it's quirkyness.

Any ideas how I can send you the ebay item link even though it's finished??
