I have worked out how to and it's below.  Like I say nothing amazing but I just really like it.  Even the spring that holds in the flint is hand made!

trench art lighter

I love it mate, and best of all it's totally unique ;D

Does it still work though ???

Yes it does.  The seller put a flint in and tested that and it all worked fine.  He just never pulled the wick up.

I had looked for a long time for a good trench art lighter and have missed out on quite a few, but they are out there.

Did really like the one I got though.  Not many like that.

My buddy got me into cigars and all the accoutrements that go along with them. I have a Colibri Trifecta lighter that is a beautiful piece of gadgetry. It's a triple jet flame lighter and has never let me down. I do have a few Zippo and Zippo knockoffs I've found over the years. I love the Zippo utilitarian, sturdy look and feel. We all know about the addictive feeling you get opening/closing a Zippo.  :)

Jetflames are a must for cigars- Zippos, as much as I like them, should be made illegal for use with a good cigar as it ruins the flavor!

Dang, now I need to get a cigar....

I don't smoke... but I do enjoy a nice cigar every so often.  In the past year or so I think I've had maybe two.

It's like a fine wine, a good beer or a vintage classic bike- if you don't experience them, you can't appreciate them.  And, like those other examples, it can be an expensive proposition to experience as well.

The classic bike certainly are, have you seen the prices of a good BSA Goldstar recently :o

Come to think of it, they've got a lot in common with lighters, they both stink to high heaven and are prone to ignite :D

Speaking of cigars:

A Charlotte, North Carolina man, having purchased a box of 24 rare and very expensive cigars, insured them against... fire. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of fabulous cigars, and having yet to make a single premium payment on the policy, the man filed a claim against the insurance company.

In his claim, the man stated that he had lost the cigars in "a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason: that the man had consumed the cigars in a normal fashion. The man sued, and won.

In delivering his ruling, the judge stated that the man held a policy from the company in which it was warranted that the cigars were insurable. The company, in the policy, had also guaranteed that it would insure the cigars against fire, without defining what it considered to be "unacceptable fire," and so, the company was obligated to compensate the insured for his loss. Rather than endure a lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the judge's ruling and paid the man $15,000 for the rare cigars he had lost in "the fires."

However, shortly after the man cashed his check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of arson. With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case used as evidence against him, the man was convicted of intentionally burning the rare cigars and sentenced to 24 consecutive one-year prison terms.

And yes, I have priced old BSA's, as painful as it is....

When I was in my early 20s I always had some random girl sticking a lit cigarette in my gob, so in total I've probably had a total of 40 smokes in my life time, and I've never developed a taste for it, or for birds that smoke ::)

Yeah I am not surprised either.

This one is a bit more expensive and I am still in the process of trying to convince myself I don't need it.

Thats the problem with trench art.  If you like something there is no "oh well I'll get it next time" or "I'll get the next one" as they are so unique there may never be another one like it.
