Still waiting on my O'Brien knife, but this combo showed up and I had to have it.

Spyderco Sprint Runs are typically very expensive (usually making already expensive models even more expensive by use of even higher-end blade steels--like $150 models becoming $250 models by use of say, Maxamet vs. S30V), thus they don't interest me. They're usually also based on regular current models. Most full-size Spyderco are already exsmurfve enough so that I don't buy very many.   Except for one recent release, an exclusive for The Knife Joker, a glow-in-the-dark FRN CPM-20CV Jester. It was just under $60; about $20 more than a Ladybug in VG-10. Pricey, but not insanely expensive.

However, the Jester's last regular production was in 2005, and its last sprint run (G-10) was in 2012 (also $90!).  The Jester is a model I've been wanting to try due to its blade shape, which I feel is well suited to what I do every day.  CPM-20CV holds an edge for a long time (almost double that of 440C; and I rarely have to sharpen my old Buck), is highly corrosion-resistant, and is decently tough (equaling 440C). I figure since a good chunk of what my sweatpants/shorts knives do is open stuff and cut up boxes, it's a good choice. Given how I use knives this size, it will be probably a year or more before it needs sharpening.  And glow in the dark!

The Olight summer sale came at a great time, I had some very generous birthday tips from my paid game players that let me go a bit... HAM  :ahhh

So on the way (hopefully soon!) I have:

-An i3E in blue (free)

-Two Obulbs (free)

-An OG Warrior Mini (the whole controversy meant it was a steal over the revised version)

-An O-pen 2

-an i3T EOS in lovely mountain sky colour

Can't wait!

Most of my Olights are the small ones that either cost me nothing, or were bought to get something for free. I sometimes criticize Olight for various reasons, but I really like their smaller lights. The big ones get too hot for real use.

That was the case with the X9R Cell, a new model that is a miniature (not even two inches long!) version of the X9R. I'm not sure about its battery however. It uses a "customized" CR425 battery, which is uncommon. It also puts out only 2.5 lumens. The battery is supposed to last a year with regular use, however. I'm a little skeptical, and see no reason over getting one of these over an i1R; but well, it's free.

However, I 've got a problem. Olight has introduced a proprietary battery for these a "Customized CR425 Cell", which is said to last a year with regular use. The regular CR425 is a tiny battery, often used in certain penlights and lighted fishing lures My i3EOS uses the ubiquitous AAA cell; while my i1R and i1R 2 (my current keychain lights) are Micro USB rechargeable.

I got yesterday's junk mail this morning, and in it was a postcard from Olight mentioning long wait times for shipping; but also $10 off any purchase. I bought an Obulb for use as a bedside light and another i3T. I've somehow misplaced my existing i3T.

The Mountain Sky version is really ornate.

X9R Cell looks neat, they offer free batteries for it until the end of 2023, so the proprietry cell shouldn't be an issue.

You'll have to let us know how the Armbar is! Was interested in the looks of it, and the SAKalike challenge is coming up

Can't pick it up until the weekend? May I introduce you to our lord and saviour the Amazon locker  :mail:

I get everything shipped to the local locker (a two minute walk from my house ), that way it doesn't matter if I'm asleep or they don't knock. Then I go for a walk at around 2am (cool air in the summer, no one around to judge my perfectly legal EDC choices...) Works a treat!

Surely they must have one in the shopping centre, maybe the opposite end of Waitrose? And in my head you now permanently live in the original version of Dawn of the Dead  :dunno:

   :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

I'm sure they have several in the shopping centre but, like most Waitrose Zombies, I prefer to fire up the Range Rover for the trip (there's a nasty slope on the way out of the valet parking  :dwts: )

Age restricted stuff no

But basically everything else, which can be nice. For example for some reason Heinnie wouldn't ship me a light with a battery for some reason, I'd have to collect it from a shop that does collection services. But Amazon doesn't care about delivering batteries to you or to a locker, I had a bunch of torches w/ batteries and a peanut lighter shipped to a locker a couple months back  :dunno:

I'm surprised you haven't gotten with the eco times and purchased and off road Segue

Now also an Olight karabiner one piece tool and another blue i3E, the OPT was only 90p on sale. So what would normally cost about £18 for about £5, which is almost entirely shipping costs  :woohoo:

I fear you may be confusing me for some sort of Guardian reading liberal elite, or worse, Swampy type  :ahhh

I'm of the view that there are two types of pedestrian; the quick & the dead

I have my HH stuff delivered to a UPS pick up point (lest they never arrive at Maison de Surge)

I got the notification on the teenie tiny plight, for free, even had it put into the cart until I read about the modified battery and that they wouldn't even have them until next year...
Even at free, I figured that I've got enough flashlights.

Now if Victorinox was giving away free MiniChamps, that'd be a different story.

just for reference, the UK got the i3E (the AAA twist light) for free in a lovely blue, though I've made arrangements to get the US free light too

The battery is certainly a factor, but not one I would be particularly concerned about. When the batteries arrive they're free and based on x minutes (I don't remember the actually amount, a few I think) the battery life is about a year of daily usage.

The light itself is 2.5 lumens, the kind of thing you put on a zipper or keychain for seeing your key hole or reading something at night. I imagine the actual useage would be significantly lower and the battery would last just fine (especially since we're in summer).

I did sleep through the 30 minute flashsale where their normal keychain light was only a £1, I'd have bought like ten

FYI these 3.2x1.2x4.9 pouches work pretty well if you are looking for some reasonably priced pocket/bag pouches.  I’ve been using them for years for my point and shoot digital camera and a solar MP3 device, but recently decided to pick up a couple more to help me organize a couple of edc bags (and some of my pocket stuff) a little better.  The one pictured is holding a Leatherman PST in its leather pouch, a Buck 301 in a leather slip pouch and a AA flashlight.  Pretty handy and compact for pulling in and out of bags/pockets and they only cost 6.99.  I have a bunch of Maxpedition stuff sitting unused in boxes, but I’ve actually used these over a period of about 5 years because they are so convenient to carry in a pocket.  They also make for good little self contained edc kits if you’ve got different edc items that you rotate from time to time.  Just pull out the kit you want that day and drop it in a pocket.

I noticed something odd about my Olight order this time. Typicially, they shipped from the US offices in GA or NJ, but this time, I noticed that they were shipping directly from China this time.  Not what I wanted to happen, but oh well. I don't see what this has to do with the shipping delays, however.

I noticed in my USPS Informed Delivery group of tracking numbers, a package is coming from Marietta, GA; so it appears only part of that order is shipping from China. Guessing that may be the X9R Cell, while the Obulb and i3T are shipping from GA.

I've been looking and also cannot find any similar references. I'm no Marlboro speSmurfpillst, so will maybe start a thread when it comes to get some opinions. Coming from Germany, so maybe European origin,
