Yeah I know what you mean. This centofante was a pain in the butt because it is quite small in the hand and the safety kept getting in the way. I tightened it down and now it doesn't bother me at all and I haven't had any problems at all with it opening up on its own.Still it is a little tough to get used to as an EDC because of its size but then again it depends on your EDC needs.

Also switch blades or Auto's are legal to own and carry in California as long as the blade is less than 2". I had a friend steel my CA legal switch blade which was my most prized knife I ever owned. It was fully custom made and cannot be replaced. http://law.onecle.com/california/penal/653k.htmlI believe you can also own any size switchblade in California as long as it stay in your home or is transported in the trunk of your car, but don't quote me on that.

Lol there is a loop hole though but it strictly something I'm not getting into for I do not wish to violate the forum rules
Yes I have also heard of LEO'S not knowing the law and wrongfully confiscating assisted openers which is why I tend to stay away from them. I might have to carry one in the mean time until I can find somrthing to fit my needs. Just to be clear you can legally carry a switch blade in CA as long as the blade is under 2". Not sure if you caught that in my post but if you did sorry for repeating myself.
Before this goes any further - do you have any training using a knife in a defensive manner?
How about one of these? The Cold Steel Ti-Lite(Image removed from quote.)

I forget the odds off of the top of my head, but they are overwhelmingly in favor of you simply dropping the knife or flinging it about 20 feet away trying to draw it. Like, 90%+, and those are with a fixed blade knife. Good luck trying to extract and then open a folding knife when your fine motor control is shot to crap because of an adrenaline dump.
