Yup. Leatherman has been promoting the Wingman for a while.  I'm not certain this is effective, but we are talking about it, so it has to work a bit at least.

I wish they'd have gone back to the Bionic Lobster myself though.   ::)

I like the "cutesy" ad campaigns, helps to take away from the "OMG that's a big knife!" when it comes to MT's

It's just that for this one, I kept looking for the caption that says "Buy A Wingman, and you can be a smurf bag too."

Absolutely.  Nothing like associating your product with a smurfhead to help it sell, right?  ::)

Not good :ahhh It's cheesy without being funny. Maybe it would work as an ad for a retro movie or something but for a multi-tool, what the smurf. It also looks completely out of place on their otherwise tasteful website.

I think Coors got the concept right. Not some cheesy fake mustachioed throwback to the 70s. But hey, I keep thinking about the Lobster.   :D

Now the only thing that would make this whole thing perfect, would be to cast the Bionic Lobster as the sidekick. Can you picture both in the front seat driving off into the sunset?

IMO that's a horrible excuse for an add. It's like saying LM is now adding a cheesy line to their multis. Would have been better to use a military theme since its called the wingman.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

The scary thing is that it looks like a collage of still shots from an upcoming full length commercial. :ahhh

But then again, the commercial may take the approach of: "If this smurfbag can get things done with a Wingman, just imagine what you can do..."

Am almost tempted to get a Wingman, yet I also feel sorry for the Bionic Lobster which was abandoned.
Would much rather get a P5 for my mom as that Dorcy (3) AAA critter I got her eats the batteries and doesn't throw as much light. She'd benefit from a P5R if I could afford one.

That cookie duster on his Wingman fella is something else, along with his toupee. It's corny, and sometimes the world just needs slapstick comedy.

The Leatherman facebook seems to have changed (again). Not sure if its due to a few bad troublemakers there, or just the way the new world mentality is, but the site feels empty - lacking substance. Doesn't feel the same. Least to me. Also noticed a few other changes in what Leatherman used to allow. They seem to be getting more serious and less laid-back. Guess they are getting tired of the negative comments/replies.

Apologize for the cross-posting. Just had to get that off my chest.  :-X

I couldn't of said it better myself.

I'm all one for joking around, but it makes the product line and company look kinda cheap and as Steve said cheesy. I'm sure they will move past it though.

Yeah, there is a string of commercials (other product) that have used similar silly retro-macho figures.... Keith Stone for Keystone beer etc. Same stupid moustach. It's cute, but i'm just tired of it. Personal preference I guess. Waiting for a sexual inuendo ad where a guy gets ready for a night on the town with a tooth brush, mouth wash, latex "support rings", and his Leatherman... "now you're ready"

That's the worst part- the cheesy 'stache and the new slogan "Leave Nothing Undone" seems like a lower class Debbie Does Dallas kind of thing.

And now... the Wingman Trading Cards!

Talk To Me Bro!

The downloadable PDF manual need bro'ified though. It's the plain ol' manual. Juice had its own themed manual, let's hope the Wingman will (eventually) get his too.
