I missed one on ebay there is a month or two ...

And I'm still sick for that !

I think I found it!
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Blancpain-WENGER-BERGEON-MINATHOR-Uhrmacher-Taschenmesser-watchmaker-knife-/251333869469?pt=DE_Sport_Camping_Outdoor_Campingmesser_werkzeug&hash=item3a84aa7f9d&nma=true&si=OUid3iqkEprDmePKdUEdmqxZHro%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Jean Claude was the same auction you saw?

I forgot to mention that I just received an answer from the german seller.
He very kindly gave us permission to use the auction pictures for the wiki.
He also told me that unfortuantely he was not able to find the original pictures anymore.

Thanks for asking. :salute: No problem on the quality of the pictures. The collage he posted in that auction is a high resolution one.

I'd much more like permission for use of pictures of the EKA Minathor. Anyone here on Watchuseek?

.....
Regal
.....

....If you put black scales on it then apparantly it's not a Regal anymore but a "Valiant with Packlock"
.....

Where did you find these names ?
They are from a US Catalog I have not posted yet.  After the large Vic catalog I'm all scanned out for a while.

QVC related by any chance? It's the only seller/site I can find a reference to it. No hurry though with the scanning. The Vic catalog was a great contribution already.

Here is an interesting find (in my opinion).
It is the oldest skier I have ever seen.
Note: old type Wenger shield on the blade, old profile main blade, old type can opener, 5 turns corkscrew and (very interesting) the skier imprint is upside down.
I think this knife is from before 1977, but I ask North Man to give a better date estimate.
Oh...almost forgot, won the auction for $ 4 and something plus shipment!

Wow, love that blade shape

I don't think the skier is upside down, he is actually correct on this one. That is how I always see up/down, left/right because its the way you hold it in front of yourself (if you are right-handed).

Addendum:
The stamp has this orientation on many Wenger
Duck / Deer / Cyclist / Fly Fisherman etc.

They probably changed orientation at one point so it looks better in a display case :P. Though by that definition the edge is facing upwards :ahhh

Yes, agree.
I used the word upside-down because I was comparing directly to the newer imprint.
I agree with you that the old style imprint is much more suggestive in this position, than the newer one.
(sorry for the poor quality, but this was the only picture I had handy)

Yup, that is how I understood you. I was referring to the older implying that the newer is "wrong".

It is beautiful! Wow! and i believe it to be from 1975-76 the year it was introduced  :) The year 1975 is special with Wenger. It was the year the knives was changed on many of the tools and design.

This knife also tell me that it was introduced with the scraper tool and embossed icon from the beginning. It looks so. After 1976 the can opener and flat screwdriver started to change side. We get the chain and new emblem + more. It looked very different after 1976/78.

I'm not sure but I think in 1975 the large blade changed from "spear blade" to "drop point blade"...

Hi
i am working on the 1975 time period and i could see a change in the blade from 1976 so maybe 1975 could be. So far there are so many changes from 1974-1976 that it is difficult to be sure. It looks like Wenger could have used some functions and shape/designs side by side for some time during the changes. The Skier from Basilio 1975/76 is very interesting! Here is some of the timeline i am working on

Thanks everyone for helping to find a date for this knife.
North Man I have your blog page bookmarked now!
I used to look at the topic you made here with the Wenger time period, but your blog seems more up to date.
I will implement the old skier picture on the wiki page, as I think it will be handy for future reference.

I've just had an email from Silvermans.

lanyard loop at one end, we will update the photograph on the website as it

After that I'm not sure what it is they're selling  ???

For your information : This is the last "Standard Issue" made by Wenger in 2012... Without Cross shield...

And the previous (less 2012):

Standard price is around 20.00 or 25.00 € on ebay for a new one.

Eventually drop me a PM.
I think I can find one from a shop here, but if I remembered correctly the asking price was between € 30 and € 40, so you would better look for cheaper options.

For a guenine soldier's knife, I can understand the price, even more ! Depending on the rarity of vintages, but for a civilian "soldier knife", 30 € is too expensive!

I was browsing around the german Bay and stumbled upon this Porsche Design Traveler

http://www.ebay.de/itm/390751098973

Really shows the layers of the "Ruthenium" scales.

Thought some might find it interesting as there was talk about these scales in the past.

Brand new in box!

I was told by email to ignore the photo on their website as it's an old one & needs updating.
