One more shot/crop.  Wenger had a good idea with this series.

Very nice score, congratulations!
I don't quite understand the decision that Wenger made, back in those days, to sell this line (apart from the two basic models) only in North America.

Nice knives!
There were few "computer wiz(zes)" that showed up in new condition on ebay, not long ago.
All were USA-only auctions, if I remember correctly.

Yes, I bought these knifes on ebay were on sale only for the USA. I keep in contact with the relative, he lives in NY he helped me.
I looked for and tried to buy computer wiz about two years.

I found a 2013 catalog from the Germany company Herbertz, a knife company from Solingen which also distributes other knives brands.
Wenger is one of those.
I found in their 2013 catalog two interesting models I was not aware.
The first is a Evowood 14 with the scales not in walnut but pear (if I translates correctly Birnenholz).
The second is a Junior model with EvoWood scales, named JuniorWood 11.
The catalog is interesting because it has also the three Ranger models with orange scales.
I'll try to scan it all.

You can get an Evowood in Europe with a Phillips screwdriver. As long as you don't mind having a blunt blade made for 6 year olds.
How daft is that? Decisions like that make me think Wenger deserved to go down the pan.

@Gim, I love the handle inlay on the patrouille des glaciers 2000.

Got myself a Wenger SI today, thanks to the link Gareth provided.

Here it is with its identical twin (my well used Vic '05).  I can pretty much only tell them apart by the bail.

There is just the tiniest bit of difference in the caplifter.  As far as I can tell, the awl and can opener are identical.

Interesting find! Is the pear wood model actually available?

Yes, it is.
Make a search on amazon websites in Europe.
The "key" here, is to search for "Wenger Evo [space] Wood 14".
If you searched for "EvoWood 14", without the space, only the walnut model shows up.
What is the logic behind it I don't know.

This got me thinking.  I wonder if some of those really light colored EvoWood knives we've seen are not Walnut also.

The new Carl Elsener Explorer is a wood very similar to Oak in some ways, but does use a Swiss wood variety.  Maybe they expanded beyond the Walnut as supply dictated, or just for variety.  Naming wood is like naming fish, once they process it they feel they can call it anything as there are so many varieties, it's rare consumers get the real DNA accurate name for wood products.

My EvoWood 14 (bottom) is so light colored I was wondering if it might be poplar or birch.. Maybe I got one of the pear woods by mistake.

Absolutely beautiful !
I love this way to summarize this and you're right...

Generaly, Victorinox use wood called "bois de rose", but I can't imagine using rose wood to make scales ! In fact this wood is named Dalbergia (see http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalbergia)

Walnut wood is very common and not expensive in Europe. It is a pretty wood, strong enough, fairly lightweight, easy to work and tinting, so often used in cutlery (Germany, France, UK, Switzerland, North of Italia, etc.).

Pear wood! Very cool! Unless they made a one letter typo and wanted to say birch. In any way a very interesting variation from the regular walnut models!

+1 on what others said.

From the look of that picture I'd say there is like a 90% chance that you have the a Pear wood example.  There are some though that are lighter/whiter that than one you show.  The one you have though looks pretty much identical to the one in the catalog photo in terms of tone once accounting for the light.

I should be getting the pear model very soon.
I don't have any 85mm walnut to compare, but I do have the RangerWood SAC, so that should be enough.
I think that it is not only a matter of different color.
If the woods were different, you should be able to check by inspection.
And, of course, the catalog numbers are different, if your came in a box
Edit: have now the knife in my hands.
Will try to post later few pictures.
The label reads: EvoWood Poirier 14, with identifier 1.14.09.833
production date is: 11 2011
Over it there is an additional label with the identifier 114093299 we already saw in the german catalog.
At quick inspection, I can tell you that my model does not have the "wood lip missing below the corkscrew" as shown by Marius in the first picture here

Looks like the top knife scales are cut from the heart wood, and the bottom knife scales are cut from the sap wood.  In some cuts you can see both the heart wood and the sap wood, it almost looks like two seperate pieces of wood glued together the contrast is so great! See my walnut opinel here one post from the bottom.  Good that you've got one of each, Walnut is a great wood!

Here are a total of six shots.
The wood is completely different also by touch: walnut feels very "smooth", while pear is a little more "rugged".
