Bought a CRKT for $5 :-)
on: December 01, 2011, 03:40:17 PM
The Chapel at our airport (Halifax International) sells confiscated items every now and then, and today I picked up a CRKT M16-12Z for $5!!

It looks like someone tried to sharpen the blade in the dark while they we drunk, but I think I should be able to fix it up.

They are having the sale again tomorrow from 10-5 if anyone around here is interested.  They had tons of high quality stuff for cheap, so I don't suspect much will last long, but they said they will have new items for the sale tomorrow.  Now if I can convince the wife to give me some money  >:D

I might have to check that out!

I know a guy who buys a lot of the SAKs from the Chapel and sells them at the flea market, but he knows nothing about what he has and overprices most of it.

They had quite a few multis, mostly Gerber, but there was a pretty good looking Wave for I think $25.  Try and get there early if you are going.  I was there at 9:45 and there was a line up starting then.

I might walk back down tomorrow morning if I can get some cash from my dear wife and get some more knives as I'm on a real knife kick right now.

Good to know- I'll have to see what the Jeep is going to cost me today before I commit to anything though.

Ah, airport chapel sales.  Loves them things.  Finally found the guy in Vancouver that does it.  Got a Minichamp for $2 the other day.

The brakes were sick. I usually don't mind though as they usually just slow me down....

I don't think you missed too much.  There was another Wave for $20, but it was in rough shape.  I picked up two Vic Classics for $1 each, and a Columbia Scorpion King knife.  I can't really find anything on the Columbia knife, so I'm guessing it's a cheapy, but it's not built like a cheap knife.  It's a flip open like the CRKT, and it locks up solid.  Good for a backup knife.

There seem to be two types of Columbia marked items.
You have Columbia River Knife and Tool, CRKT,
and there is also a Chinese Company? selling products Marked as Columbia Shuangrond.
Here is a link to see their markings:

and CRKT of course:

It is the Chinese Columbia brand.  I'll try and get some pics of it on Monday (knife is at work).  It has a indent (or something) that makes sure the blade won't open in your pocket, but it doesn't make it any harder to open when you flick it.  It also looks like it has teflon washers between the sides of the blade and the body of the knife.
