Nonsense. You could do a cobra stitch. It is truly easy.

You have four (or in my case eight due to mine being a double cobra) strands of paracord in front of you. The one on the far right goes under the middle two and over the far left. The far left goes through the loop of the far right where it went under to form a square knot. Tighten it up and then repeat the process on the opposite side. Far left under the middle two and over the far right. Far right through to form knot. Far right under the middle two and over the far left...

And so on...

Easy. Trust me.

A paracord sheath...

Sewing in some nylon webbing or elastic would probably be better for the sides, and maybe velcro or a button to secure the flap, and I'm not sure on a belt clip or belt loops yet... but I don't think it looks too bad...

I've only made the one like that, and it's not really finished without a clip or attachment of some sort...  so a tutorial is off in the distance for now.

Here's a rough idea of the body weaving method and a couple more photos before I folded it to add the sides.  I tried to explain what I did on my blog page...

Gah! I spent like 3 hours last night trying to make a sheath from a single length of ungutted paracord. Not knowing how much I would need, I had a 100ft lump I was hauling around. I finally succeeded but the outcome is plain horrid... :-\ I just hate gutting paracord; I can't see the reason anyone would buy 550 (type III) cord and "convert" it to 225 (type IIA) just like that (well... other than aesthetic reasons... ::)). In retrospect, however, thinking of the amount of time it took to make that sheath, I can't see myself undoing it to use the cord it was made off unless it was some reaaally life-or-death situation.

I did go back and add a belt loop to the paracord sheath.  A couple of shorter ones done in parallel might work for a horizontal version...  I haven't found a suitable metal clip to scavenge off older sheaths/pouches I do have, that might work attached with a couple of Chicago screws...
