Thanks- here's another shot of the Jeep in front of my garage:

It certainly qualifies as something that makes me happy, and so does my kayak, and the places I go in it.

As you can see, I go lots of places in my kayak!  :D

Friends: I have some excellent friends, many of whom I had a great time with over the holidays. People who I know I could call at silly o'clock in the morning if I had a major problem and who would come to my aid no questions asked.

Family: Same story

Tools: I have a good assortment of tools and the knowledge to use them safely to get myself and others out of a fix.

Intangibles: My brain works fairly well, enough to be able to respond to most situations and find some form of strategy to deal with it - that includes both knowledge and inginuity. I also have reasonable physical ability to follow it through. I also get a real kick out of using these to make life easier for friends and family, whether it's relationship issues, work issues, domestic issues or anything else which is making their life harder than it needs to be. If there's something I can do to improve things for them, I will - and it gives me great pleasure in doing so. Same thing for organisations I am involved with. I just love making things better.

Money and materialistic matters come way down the line for me - they are a means to an end, for example not having a car would have a dramatic impact and impare my ability to go about my usual routines ... but I suppose I just class things like that, and indeed money, merely as tools, and generally get little pleasure from them in their own right.

I can appear to be quite a complex individual, and can be quite confusing to many people at times. I don't even have a TV, as I find it numbs the brain rather than stimulates it, but I'm really quite a simple chap and like to cut through much of the BS we are force fed by society. I'd much rather see a smile appear on a struggling friends face through putting myself out a little, or doing something else a little more productive than immerse myself in the glare of the "idiot lantern" for hours on end.

Good deeds for causes that matter (however that may be perceived) are not only addictive, but contagious

On a less profound note, I am also very susceptible to mood enhancement by the outdoors, a good movie, good food, drink, and the female form  ;)

Things that make me happy?

The simple joys of getting up in the morning to watch the sun go up and to hear all the birds singing. I do love that as I tend to be a morning person.

My work. I have one of the best jobs on this planet.

My hobbies that keep me occupied while I am not at work such as...

Photography.

Leather crafting.

Archery.

Model railroading.

Motorcycling.

Collecting various things like Canadian FDCs, SAKs, MTs, etc...

Last but not least, friends.
A little Leatherman information.

Leatherman series articles

People and my animals... probably not in that order :D

I caught up with some very dear old friends this past month, and really appreciated the time I got to spend with them. Some are just passing through from Australia so it's been about 12 years since we saw each other and probably will be another 12 till we next do. Others I went to school with and kind of fell out of touch with, which I regret as I have missed them.

My cat and dog rock my world... plain and simple, best friends you can ever ask for :)

Stuff is just stuff, but I admit it's fun to have around. The best material things are the ones you can give to others to get a smile on their face :D

When my wonky joints allow, I love making things like knotwork and chainmaille. Anything creative is always good for the soul I reckon. I try and keep learning new things as I believe living without it is a slow and dull existence.

I love watching the seasons change, and seeing things I have planted grow, and often make it to the dinner table which is the best food you'll ever eat. Getting something out of what you put in is always a great reward.

Above all, I have love in my life, which is an extraordinary gift above all other things.

My family, but mostly my father. He's the one that's taught me how to work with tools, how not to abuse tools, how to take care of them, and he's taught me how to be the man I am today (i still have plenty of learning).

My friends who have gone through so much with me.

Nature, when hanging by the river and listening to the river talk to me and help me when family cant.

Camping, and fire.

The house i live in, and the food i get to eat, and all of the other nice things i have.

No pics yet as I'm at work, but my wife and son are tops.  They bring the greatest joy in my life, and we have another little one on the way.

Then of course I love multitools and knives, and basically all EDC gear.

I love history, any books or documentaries fascinate me.  Specifically ancient history.

I love golf, even though I suck at it.

I worked at a golf resort for 4 years, and when I left I was a Department head with unlimited free golf on any day whenever there was an open tee time.  It was nice because before that I had to have my boss make my tee time and when I was promoted I was awarded a free membership to the club.

Times I played when I had to ask permission: 378

Times I played when I could do whatever I wanted: 1

Just goes to show ya, it's a give and take!  I haven't played in 6 months and I don't really have time to anymore.  Maybe when I get a job that doesn't take up all my time.  Even now I work 45 to 50 hours a week from 8 am to dusk.  Weekends my boy is out of daycare and it's our only real time to spend quality time together so that combined with the fact that he's 3 and couldn't give two smurfs about golf means I don't get to go often.
