I forgot the customer wanted the wire cutter mod to the scissors so I added that.  Id never tried it before but wow it does actually cut wire pretty darn good.   :tu:

(Image removed from quote.)

any guidance on the scissor mod for wire cutters?  it looks straight forward,  but, looks can be deceiving

I used a small diamond bur that came with my dremel to make the cutouts then cleaned up the edges with a stone, and that was it.  I was expecting it to be more annoying but it was pretty straight forward.

sounds good,  at about what opening angle of the scissors did you do the drilling?  (closed, 30 degrees, etc)
If I can help, let me know

Oh I did it full open, then kept grinding until they mated up just right.

I used a bit that looks like the one on the right in this pic.

One of the last little blades I had made went into a pioneer yesterday.  These really are too thick for my preference so next time I try making some it will be on thinner material.  These are 0.160" thick blades.  The pliers layer is 0.125" for reference.  :D

The customer that bought my liner lock farmer modded my mod and made it better.  The ver 2 of the liner lock still needs some tweaking as it can be awkward to activate it.  He dremeled out a scallop in the back scale and said it now works like a dream.  When I make version 3 I will make the thumb grip area higher.

Looks great, the only downer on that whole setup looks to be that it will rub the "Vic" name off in due time.. Any locking blade, besides the oldschool back lock ones have a little ball that glides across the blade, small as heck and I have no clue how it stays in, but just an idea?

Ya most liner locks use a detent ball that holds blade from wobbling free in closed mode.  Since this still has a backspring that holds it closed I dont need that.  From what I understand though you drill a precise hole then press fit them in.

I always thought that was to have less of a rub when opening and closing the blade.

Yeah, in your case it wouldn't be needed, since it holds in the closed position, but just for a easy glide while opening and closing, but if you really think about it wouldn't really do anything since the sak is a two hand open no matter what, unlike any other lock blade where it's a one hand open..

Hey Syph, if I was looking for a slim, bladeless 93mm sak that featured a saw, a cap lifter, an inline phillps and an awl, could the awl sit opposite the inline phillips next to the cap lifter?

Finally the 93mm rescue blade SAK mod is together! :D

The Ti liner lock worked out well on this, but I had a big issue getting the blade normal big blade on there.  The nail nick points inside so running out of ideas I just ground a nail nick on the other side so it could be opened.  Luckily that worked out just fine!

Can someone school me on the liners that seperate tools. That last mod has the saw and file butted right up to one another. Do liners just provide room to get to the nail nicks, or do they serve another purpose?

They provide stength to the frame and work against the resistance of the backsprings.  If you were to say build a swisschamp and leave out all liners, the inner tools would have zero snap and the pins would be bowed.  But thin tools you can get away with putting a couple per layer.

Well I did some kind of chemistry here by accident...

The center was polished brass and I wanted to anodize the rest blue... didnt quite work, but its interesting.

(Image removed from quote.)

This, for me, is still the most beautiful scale you made so far. Can you replicate this "accident"? If I ever get the funds, I'll be asking you to build me a SAK with this cross.
