More polished Ti on this one, with all brass accents.  Liners, old cross and tweezers.  :D

This was the first use of the waterjet liners and thankfully they were a perfect fit.

I can't remember ever working on a gold colored alox before, but I did today.  This started as a gold rancher.

I wanted to try some BO'd tools with tumbled Ti scales and I think it looks pretty decent.  :D

I had an idea and wanted to try today.  Make some grooves in a Ti scale, anodize the whole thing and then sand the surface leaving the inner parts still colored.  It does work pretty well, so I could make some interesting texture on Ti for grip or accent and color them.   Some interesting potential there for sure.   :tu:

I think a series of diagonal liner or X shapes would work well...

Im working on a fancy and complicated Ti/brass conversion of a 91mm with long nail file on back.

The file itself isn't connected to any of the normal pins but instead is riveted between two liners.  In this pic you can see the stock liners on top and the nail file.  I recreated the stock ones in brass.

And then riveted it back together.

This mod also has full size scale liners as it has T&T and pin so I need the full liners.  I'm going to cheat and just grind the liners with the Ti scales in a sandwich, which will ensure they are perfectly mated to the Ti scales.

Stay tuned.... :D

 :ahhh   :ahhh   :ahhh

That's how my brain feels anyway.. I figured 8 hrs or so and Id have this done but I'm probably 3x that.  That's what I get for thinking a job would be easy! :D

I actually have it almost done now and the parts I assumed would be easiest of course were not.  Fitting the pin and toothpick took the longest to perfect and Im not doing a full outer liner on a Ti mod again that was nuts to get it exactly mating.  Cutting the slots I did on my manual mill and that actually wasnt too bad.

Here's some in progress pics.

This is a big boy too, note the spliced pivots to get 0.800" long ones.  Its a 5 layer all together.

I'll post the final build pics.

I try to build similar knives together as its more time efficient, so this Ti model also went together today.

An explorer toolset but with backside phillips instead of corkscrew, and serrations added to the small blade.

I see that you are making mods with toothpic, tweezers and even pin in Ti. Can it be made in Alox (Basically for cheapest material)? And with a pen too?
If that is the case my 91mm cellidor scales are saying goodbye very soon.

The next alox scales I have being anodized for 91mm I cut the tweezer slot.  The toothpick slot I like to skip and Im not sure about the pin as I think I can find a better spot to put that.  Its a much nicer and thinner mod to not have to have those inner liners on the scales just to hold scale tools.  :D

For me tweezers and pen are a must... Well, it's a start until we can get the best from both types. :tu:

Might be to much but some red in the area you have carved out of the scales would look pretty cool I bet.

I love to try that, but cant anodize Ti in red.  Only blue/purple are easy, and pink/green are possible with pre etching.

Then blue, green, pink or purple liners to go with it. Sexy.
