Those are stock liners too, but I sanded the edges.  They look pretty decent I think.

Did you use a buffing wheel also?  They are nice and shiny.

Would you/can you do copper scales and/or liners?

Asking because they'd look AMAZING with either green or black  :D

Copper rusts/degrades extremely fast. Could last a month in good condition, a week if you live at the coast.
If that's the case, you better send me every penny you have and you should never look at the statue of liberty.
Copper develops a patina which is a reaction to the atmosphere. Aluminum does the same thing but it doesn't get the pretty colors.
Copper is harder than aluminum but softer than nickel. As a liner, brass would be better than straight copper.

Ya you could put copper on exterior, but it would not make a good liner material.  Once its oxidized it would not allow the tools to slip over it's surface very smoothly.  I love working with brass, but I have worked with copper a few times.  Not a big fan of it, but its ok.  It oxidizes very quickly compared to brass worked the same way.  Brass takes a couple years, copper a couple of weeks for the shine to go away and start oxidizing.

makes sense!

What about brass scales with the signature cross hole like the Ti's?

I bet they'd tarnish handsomely.

Maybe with stone washed tools to look like they'd been around the block a few thousand times.

I wouldnt recommend brass scales on anything except the tiny 58s.  I put brass on an 84 and it made it so heavy it was rediculous.  :D  Looks nice though but the weight increase makes it completely unpocketable.

Spartan + metal saw configuration.  I dont think there is any official SAK with these tools, so no official name that I know of.

Ok, no back tool on the file, but close enough.  I see you put the fine driver on there instead of the chisel.  I can't work out why Victorinox would usually pair the screwdriver with the saw and the chisel with the file - seems the wrong way round to me.

A clipper! Well now I know.   :D

I completely agree about the backtools.  Chisel belongs on wood saw.

So it seems the cybertool, despite being a pricey SAK for a donor, is still plenty popular.   :tu:

Can not wait to do a CT custom!

Do my eyes decieve me or is there no CS or backside phillips on this one?

Forgot to ask, could you put a Wenger mag glass on one of these 91mm customs?

Yep this is the second one I did with no cutout on the backscale.  Works fine except on this one I needed to make a little notch on the back scale to allow access to the nail nick on the awl which is the backtool on the blade layer.

I have no idea about a wenger mag glass, but if its the right thickness to use with a saw backspring or similar, that would be the best bet.

Thinking about it some more this combination of tools is so good for a smaller SAK. Well played to whomever ordered it.

So let's say I wanted to just send you say one of my 91mm SAKs to have the CS removed. You just replace the liner with a special one you had made?

Well i can do it with these because i made the scales amd can use full ones on both sides.  So any converted sak to Ti works.  There are no full plastic 91 mm scales though.

Ok so there is still a little empty area where the CS would go behind the full scale?

Still a TI conversion would be sweet.

I dont use outer liners at all on these mods so I dont have to make full version of those.  But ya on a normal plastic scaled SAK youd have a space in the liner and scale that are normally occupied by the corkscrew.

Forgot about the outer liner.

Looking at my Champion right now and on this one it is the scale, outer liner and some space on the knife layer.

With no CS it would just be the little bit of space on the knife layer that would be good, very cool.

Thanks for the info man.

Just noticed the bit driver is perfectly centered on this one, nice.

Put a saw on one side of the driver and the metal file on the other and we cq 're getting close to my dream SAK. Just would like a mag glass somehow.

More polished Ti on this one, with all brass accents.  Liners, old cross and tweezers.  :D

This was the first use of the waterjet liners and thankfully they were a perfect fit.

Ok very rough here yes, but I've been meaning to try this for some time now, which is to make a custom mag glass holder for the new modern glass lenses Vic uses.

This was a requested one in copper.  My plan is to file the insides, then sand with a mandrel then taper to match the angle of the glass.  I will use copper rivets to assemble the halves, then sand and polish it up and Im hoping it works.... :D
