Best little folders
on: May 16, 2012, 09:21:35 AM
So, after the big beauties, lets talk about the little ones. Again: No SAK please, they are tools  :D

My top 3:

1: Fälllniven U2 - just perfect for EDC, Sheeple friendly and very sharp out of the box. My very first "good" folder, and still my favourite.  :tu:

2: Spyderco Salsa. Best little EDC Spyderco ever made imho.

3: SOG Access Card 2.0: Little, but big enough for EDC, and very slim. I love the Arc Lock!

I had more trouble picking my Top 3 little ones, so honorary mentions go to the Spyderco Cricket SE, Benchmade Mini Griptilian and Spyderco Meerkat!

For me three little pocket knives should be:

1. Enzo Birk 75 or PK70 (depending on local laws, locking OHO etc)
2. Victorinox Soldier OHO
3. Case Sodbuster CV

And many many many many others....  :D :D :D

These might not necessarily be the best knives in the class, but I really like them:

AG Russel Ultimate Penknife
Nieto Manolina
Opinel #6
Case Seahorse Whittlers and Barlows
Byrd Wings Slipit

I don' t have much in the way of non sak folders but for general use it would have to be my SRM T21 the cutting hook has proved very useful .Following closely behind is the SRM EL-01 a real brute and up to the most demanding tasks

the GEC #73 scout pattern is just the right size to me.
Spyderco ladybug is the ideal keychain knife
I would really like to get a spyderco chaparral, very small, with the thin blade, strong midlock and nice looking carbon fiber scales.

Hm... Interesting. Let's see, GEC #68 is a very good looking, small knife. Hm, I think EKA Executive Sportsman Bubinga also deserves a mention. And Dragonfly Salt is just a fun knife. I didn't think of my PNK right away, but it's certainly my favourite small knife. There, four knives. I'm a rebel!

(Oops, didn't notice it was supposed to be about folders... Ah... Well... The PNK is still a cool knife! :D )

Have a look at RR knives too. So you can get a feel of these models for less money and decide if you want them.

Spyderco has lots of great small folders , I like the Leafstorm . Al Mar makes a number of great EDC's , I'm partial to the SLB for dress clothes .

William Henry makes some stunning pieces , the CRK Mnundi is superb , elegant , and very tuff .

Amici,
Spyderco Cricket, Buck 501 for a locking folder, or a Buck 705 Pinto as a traditional slip joint..

Cheers,
Serge

Mini-skirmish (best blade/handle ratio imo)
Para-military 2
delica ffg
Dragonfly

I know that most people wouldn't consider the first two as small knives, but they are mini versions of larger knives, and are very god edc size knives.

Minigrip is top of my list too.
Second would be the UKPK.
Third probably a Barlow of some kind.
