Knives legal in canada.

Does anybody know of some good tactical folders that cannot be opened by cylindrical force? most frame locks or back locks I've come across open at the flick of the wrist and are illegal where i live.

I assume you mean centrifugal force... and that portion of the law generally refers to balisongs.  Frame locks, back locks, axis locks, liner locks etc are all legal in Canada, as are assisted opening knives.  In fact, you can buy just about all of those at places like House of Knives, Canadian Tire, Mountain Equipment Co Op and/or Wal Mart.

It's a big pile of grey BS, technically if a knife can be flicked open it's illegal, but pretty much any knife can be opened that way so anyone with a knife on him is a criminal. I just carry whatever knife I want and not worry about it.

If it's sold at a retail store or a website based in Canada (Canadaknives, Srknives, warriorsandwonders) it's already had to pass through Customs and thus legal.

Just don't go threatening anyone with it and the cops generally don't care.

Ya my arc log SOGs flick open without even having to touch the blade.  I bought them at bass pro shops near toronto.  I carry them and dont worry about it.  But i dont worry about much and dont really care much about stupid rules or laws, Im not a criminal nor am I doing criminal things.

When I was a kid I ordered a butterfly knife and a blowgun through a magazine from the US and got them no problem.  My dad made me get rid of them because they were illegal, I was a kid and didnt even know that, but its funny they made it accross the border fine.  It was a different time in the 80s.

Yup- most standard type knives are legal in Canada provided you don't try taking them somewhere where they are not allowed, like schools, government buildings or airports.  Generally as long as you don't do something dumb like threaten someone with them or run through a crowded mall waving it around you are pretty well ok.

All you really have to worry about in Canada are balisongs (butterfly knives), automatics (switchblades) and push daggers (T handles).  Those can get you in trouble pretty quick.  The rest, provided you don't do something wrong or conceal them are legal, with no restrictions on blade length.

If you are having a knife shipped , just ask the vendor to tighten the pivot for you .

One other class of prohib ; knives with built in knuckledusters . Hardl a common item since WW1 !

There are ways around even that.  One of the local stores sells the SOG Tigershark as the knuckle portion is removable on that knife.

Pretty sure there's a ruling differentiate between knuckle duster and hand guard, I know local shop sells machetes with plastic mold in hand guards.

Knuckle bow is OK , knuckle duster not OK . Gravity Knives are also Prohib , as are ballistic knives .

Concealment is a bit tricky , only applies to weapons - for a knife to be defined as a weapon , some kind of criminal intent has to be shown, as a tool you can pack it pretty well any way you want . No way a SAK in the pocket would qualify . A Multi up the wahzoo , while visiting a jail would certainly qualify ( in addition to being very uncomfortable ).

The law has been left vague on pourpose , basically made out of rubber !
