Kershaw Echelon assisted opening issue.
on: July 23, 2012, 06:42:16 AM
Any one have a Kershaw Echelon?

Mine has a long way before the spring starts to push the blade out, so I have to really push the blade out far before the spring catches and the assisted opening starts to work.

With the kershaw blur is a lot easier and I can open it correctly every time.
the assisted spring starts WAY earlier.
Maybe its just me and i need to practice a bit with it, but idk...seems a little wierd to me...but maybe thats just the design??

Is this just with my echelon or is anyone else experiencing this issue??   :pok:

Thanks

I don't own one but that sounds nothing like a normal Kershaw. I would suggest contacting them about it. I've sent one thing into them and the turn around time along with repair was top notch.

I'd say the same as Ashley- manufacturer's warranties are so good nowadays that if you aren't happy with something, be sure to let them know.

here is there response.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.  In response to your email, it is my opinion that your knife is not defective as the echelons I have handled have a later tbar engagement than any of our other speedsafe knives.  Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Amici,
I'm really feeling Kershaw allot as of lately.. Recently picked up a Blur that I absolutely love as well as a Cyclone that doesn't have the speed assist lever that caused so many problems. Next I'm trying to track down a Boa that's also discontinued but are still floating around as NOS with some dealers.

All are made in USA and are high quality knives for the price. Even their made in Chicom blades aren't too bad...

Cheers,
Serge
