I voted for the rebar, only because of parts for mod fodder :)

That's cheating! The best thing anyone made this year is the one I can break for parts

The Rebar is my ultimate MT I've got a ST300 but I never carried it, do to the weight, but always wished I could instead I used a Crunch or Fuse for EDC now that I have a Rebar at my side and the Style CS on my keychain I'm a happy MT user remoldeling houses and doing handyman work I'm going to retire my Fuse to the display collection and the Crunch will still come out from time to time  because I think it's such a unique and cool MT

I actually do not own nor have I used any of the tools on the list so I won't be voting.  I asked Santa for a REBAR however so maybe I will get to check one of those out  :D

I voted for ...  none of them.

I'm sad to say it, but none of these tools make my heart beat faster, or my eyes pop out.  Only one of them did that when I first saw pics of it online, and that was the Rebar, untill I bought one and it broke down on me after two days of playing with it and taking pics (first Leatherman to "fail" on me in almost 20 years).

Went back to the store and they told me I could pick another, but I started checking all the Rebars they had over there and like 8 out of 10 had some kind of issue, rivets on the inside very iffy (where my first Rebar broke), handles that were way of when the tool was clossed (like 3 or 4 mm),  one of them wouldn't even close completely because the plierhead rubbed against the inside tools when you tried to close it.

I was so dissapointed in the Rebar I layed down some extra cash and bought myself a Wave (checked all the Waves they had in stock, only one had a small problem where the tip of the plierhead would rub gently aginst the phillips-bit, nothing compared to the Rebar with the same problem).

So, no votes from me, maybe next year  ;).

I voted for the Rebar (only) for two reasons. It's a darned nice tool (mine was flawless) and of the selection given, it's the only one I think will have any lasting pull. Most of the rest won't even be available in a few years and will be quickly forgotten, and the 2 that will have some lasting availability, MP600ST and OHT, have issues that keep them from being home runs. The Rebar, by comparison, will have a solid lifespan and be remembered as a classic.

So to summarize:
Not just a one-trick pony (Sorry OHT and Steady)
Well-built (Sorry Dime and PowerDuo)
Genuinely useful (Sorry Toucan and CRKT)
Good-looking (Sorry Balance)
Attractive to a wide audience (Sorry MP600ST).

Ergo, Rebar.

I'm abstaining. The only one on the list I have is a Dime and, though I like the tool selection, a back spring bent while cutting fairly thin wire, so I can't really vote for that one  The only one on the list I would consider purchasing is the Rebar, which is pretty much just a shrunken SuperTool, not very innovative :-\

Not having purchased or even handled any of the nominations this year, I voted entirely on impressions rather than first-hand experience:

CRKT Tool - I've been interested in this one since it was announced. Even though it's somewhat limited in scope, it seems like it'd be the perfect supplement to a pliers-based multi.

Boker Toucan - What can I saw, I'm a sucker for decent affordable one-piece tools.

Gerber Steady - Rather gimmicky, but not without it's own awkward charm.

I just wish that the Rebar had come with a different tool set than seen on the ST300.  This was so nearly my modern day Pulse.  I may still pick one up some day but I am in no hurry.

Yet another for the Rebar.

I gave one to a coworker.  It's her first multitool and she is absolutely smitten.  She is never without it at work and has even mentioned taking it to her stitch group and  crafting group meetings.

I had reservations about the Rebar.  I didn't really see the point, but after seeing my friend work with hers I have come to appreciate it more.

I don't have any of those as this years additions to the multitool world have left me kind of indifferent. I was sure I'd love the Rebar but as it came out and after the first reviews I wasn't that into it anymore. I did give it a vote and one for the Dime too as those are the only two tools I think of getting one day. Maybe. Probably.

I do hope 2013 will be a better year for the multitool world with some nice innovative tools.

Rebar, it is the only one in that lineup that I think would be around in 5-6 years, and the CRKT, because there is nothing else like it in the industry, although from some of the reviews I've heard there might be reasons.

I have none but I like the LM OHT concept.
I don't like the short blades also and lack of scissors, awl and bit drivers, so I won't vote for it and wait maybe for a Wave/ Charge/ Surge and OHT Hybrid that combines the best of both types to vote one of the following years.

Gerber had the patent, which has now expired so LM is using it too.
