Pretty much my iPods broken and I'm going to replace it, was wondering what else is out there. Needs to be 32gb and around the same price (preferably cheaper) so under £250 if possible!

If all you want is an MP3 player, you won't need to spend anything close to 250 - was it an iPod touch with all the fancy trimmings?

2 of the criteria for my new phone was a headphone jack and a microsd card slot, thus negating my need for an ipod... one less device to carry/worry about.

Loving my Nexus 7 at home though!

I never actually use an mp3 player so I have no idea what's out there.  If I was to consider something like that I'd probably just use my phone or tablet rather than buy yet another piece of technology I have well covered already.

As for a tablet being too big to carry around, have you seen the size of the new Droids?  With 5+ inch screens they aren't much smaller than a tablet.  Get yourself a nice man purse to carry it around with and you'll have no problems- in fact, quite the opposite, you'll have more abilities to look things up online, share with friends etc then ever before.  :D

opted for a wireless headset in the end, from sony (same brand as my phone) it takes a micro sd card so i can use it as a stand alone mp3 or use it with my phone  :)

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of all in one tech so I have an iPhone which covers my MP3 needs.... not sure what I'd reccomend outside of that :-\

I'm interesting to see what you decide to get though. I'm trying hard not to scratch a tablet itch right now :ahhh

Take a look at the Sansa Zip. Its very small, comes in a number of colors, has 4 or 8 gb built in, with a micro SD slot. I got a 4 gb and added a 32 gb card and have been quite happy with it.

I personally like that when it's plugged in to the computer, it just shows up as a folder where I can drag/drop/delete like normal. I can also navigate on the Zip using the folder structure I create, rather than having to rely on tags/genres/etc.

Edit: I prefer to have a separate music player because I don't have to worry about killing the battery on my phone when I listen. Also, at the relatively small cost of the Sansa, I'm not as worried about losing/breaking it. Also, the clip comes in handy.

I have an older Sansa player (e260 I think?) that I think is great.  It was also a 4g model with a micro SD slot.

When it comes to flash based devices Sandisk is always a good choice.
