Yes, it's the Rangerwood,  but  the scales came out darker than the others after oiling.

Messing around trying polished superglue as a finish.
Flood on, let dry THOROUGHLY, sand with various grits working up to 6000.

Gets a beautiful glassy surface but sometimes multiple layers can give odd effects. I think it was because of fingerprint oil. So, keep it clean or wipe down with alcohol between coats.
Wood is just a random scrap of teak.

with and without flash.

Messing around trying polished superglue as a finish.

Wow! That sounds insane but looks great!
I might have to try that sometime. I find superglue useless for sticking things (it only seems to work on human fingers - as well as bottoms to toilet seats, as legions of pranksters have discovered) so I'm impressed that you've discovered an genuine use for it!

Super glue is great but great super glue is even better :)

I was searching for finger planes (long story)

and found this place

http://www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_Supplies/Glues_and_Adhesives/Glues/

they have a guide to using different glues for jobs .... very guitar focused but interesting

http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Resources/Learn_About_Instrument_Finishing_and_Finish_Repair/Which_super_glue_to_use_thin_medium_or_thick.html

They even have brush on super glue for surfacing ... lots of different viscosity's even black glue

No links to the site apart from as a happy customer

I was asking since I own and I am looking for a good oil to treat it...

@capitanharlock

I'm using sinensis for all my tools, straight razors and knives. It works well on carbon steel blades and wooden handles.

Very nice J-Man - Did you do them yourself, and if so, what's your method for affixing the shield? I think the shield on wooden sclaes makes them look even better.  :salute:

Thanks Mags... The scales were done by a friend... He took the shield from a cellidor scale and pressed them on the wood... I merely assembled the SAK and peened the scales
