Well, it's not the fact that I misspell words, but the fact that this pad replaces a mistyped word! Ask Monrouge, he'll tell you, even though he probibly still doesn't believe me,, JR

I do my best never to misspell words. I consider spelling and grammar critically important. If I'm unsure of the spelling of a word, I don't guess, I look it up.

I have recently relearned how to spell exercise after apparently forgetting how...
I typed it "exersize" or something along those lines. And when i found out how wrong I was, the grammar-nazi  part of me totally flipped out.

That happens to me a lot, but it seems to come and go.  For a month or two I'll keep typing teh instead of the, then I stop doing it for a while, then I'll start again.  Must be the moon's gravitational pull or something.

True that, but I'm seriously annoyed by the fact that my Google Chrome checks the spelling as an American, while I prefer British spelling, usually   Which, I think, could make my spelling quite inconsistent.

For me, I don't tend to be a bad speller. My biggest problem is typing two capital letters at the beginning of a sentence. Like this, THe or HAppy. It seems that my MacBook keyboard shift key sticks for an extra letter

I've been doing the TEH thing lately also. and sometimes SAK instead of ASK, but I think it's a forum related typo. :D

My brain usually knows how to spell most words correctly, but sometimes my fingers don't,  especially with secruely (securely) and orginal (original) for some reason.  If I type a bit slower they mostly come out right.

Being an ex-proof reader (amongst several other occupations) I hate spelling and grammatical errors, so it really burns me when I notice an error in one of my older posts after the brief "fix-it-yourself" period that MTo allows has finished (but not enough to ask a mod to waste their time fixing it for me).

Re the OP, most Americans seem to pronounce congratulations with a "d", so your erroneous spelling makes sense to me. English is not phonetically pleasing at all - I spell better in Spanish.

I have been diagnosed severely dyslexic too, so I often find the whole thing difficult, and more overwhelming when I'm tired. I do however have a lot of cognitive strategies in place and technology to help me. The things which escape the net regularly are just using using the wrong word, or replacing the small ones with each other at random!

I had a bad head injury over a year ago. Fractured skull, three bleeds and a bruise on the brain. My spelling and reading has got better and hence i joined this forum. I used to be on fbook BUT i had the problem of writing what i thought. Im not able to not say things which at times may be inapropriate! Got loads of messages about removing posts as you can guess. So that was it, quit fbook, take a break and start new again. So im here and so far im ok and feel its been a great benefit to talk to likeminded people though i started babbleing on about a hadron-collider on a post for some reason!
I hope this makes sense?
